ABC News: "Bush Effort to Aid Republican Falls Short"
Bush Effort to Aid Republican Falls Short
Newsview: President Bush's Political Standing Hurt After Effort to Aid Va. Republican Falls Short

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=1295303

WASHINGTON Nov 9, 2005 — Iraq, Katrina, CIA leak, Harriet Miers. Things couldn't possibly get any worse for President Bush.

Wait, they just did. Bush put his wispy political prestige on the line in the Virginia governor's race and lost Tuesday when the candidate he embraced in a last-minute campaign stop was soundly defeated. While there are many reasons for Jerry Kilgore's defeat, chief among them his poor campaign, giddy Democrats said the Virginia race as well as a Democratic victory in New Jersey prove that Bush is a political toxin for Republicans.

"This portends really well for the future," said Sen. Chuck Schumer, chairman of the Democratic Senate campaign committee. "Unless George Bush reverses his polices and reaches to the middle you're going to see many more victories like this."

There's no evidence that voters were sending Bush a message in Virginia or New Jersey, but Tuesday's results heightened Republican anxieties about the 2006 midterm elections, when much more will be at stake. Some GOP officials blamed Bush's political slump for a low GOP turnout.

President Bush gestures as Republican gubernatorial candidate Jerry Kilgore listens during a rally in Richmond, Va., Monday Nov. 7, 2005. Kilgore is facing Democratic challenger Lt. Gov. Tim Kaine in Tuesday's election. This is the first time Bush came to the state in support of Kilgore.

2. Junior's effort DIDN'T fall short, the mediawhores trying to spin AGAIN
The mediawhores are trying to put the best spin on this, by saying "fall short"

Junior's effort didn't FALL SHORT...Junior's effort FAILED, because HE'S a FAILURE.

It should be our new message: George W. Bush IS A FAILURE.

He's been a loser and a failure ALL his life, he once again proves he has the anti-Midas Touch.

BUSH IS A FAILURE.

10. MSNBC actually said "backfired"...
...in one of their newsbreaks last night.

Of course, they TEMPERED it with "it MIGHT HAVE backfired," but make no mistake...they used the "B" word.

7. "...his wispy political prestige..." WISPY? We have a new "w" word, guys!
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 10:46 AM by calimary
For his pathetic, hapless dad, it was "wimp." Now, according to the AP, it's "wispy."

Like a bag of feathers into the wind, george. There's your political capital, right there.

And, by the way, whether they think there's no evidence bush had that much of an impact on the elections yesterday, FUCK IT. We should say he did, ANYWAY. Repeat, repeat, repeat, "catapult the propaganda," and MAKE IT SO.

PERCEPTION IS EVERYTHING!!!

9. It didn't help Kilgore (what a name), but it probably didn't hurt him
either. Nobody in VA even heard about Shrub's last minute appearance at Richmond Airport except the 5,000 invited GOP activists and the 2,000 security people who were paid to attend.

What a treat for the loyal core. B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) :evilfrown: :dunce: B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-)

12. It wasn't only the appearance- there were robo calls from Bush
during the last three days of the campaign.

Plus, the "evil librul" Leslie Byrne only lost by 2%! She was heavily smeared with the liberal label.

Tim was right. We'll see her again, soon.

Altogether, yesterday was a good day. The start of many to come for VA and the country, I think. :toast:

14. "No evidence"?
bush campaigned for kilgore at the eleventh hour in a state that went for him in the 2004 "election" and kilgore got beaten by the Democrat, Tim Kaine!

"Giddy Democrats"? Yeah, we're Joyfully Elated that we're getting our country back one state at a time.

How's the evidence in California stacking up, ron fournier, newswhore extraordinaire?
