Corzine - do the right thing and appoint Codey as your Senate replacement!
First, Codey held NJ and the democratic party together after the McGreevey scandal (McGreevey, who was the governor that won in 2001 outed himself and there was a big stink about him appointing his boyfriend to a position that the boyfriend was not qualified for).

I'm watching CN8 and they brought up a very valuable point. New Jersey tends to divide itself between the North and the South. The 2 candidates most people think are the front runner for finishing out the Corzine senate term are Rob Andrews (south) and Robert Menendez (North). Either appointment could be a turn off to the other half of the state.

Bu Codey not only held the state of New Jersey together after the McGreevey scandal BUT he had one of the highest approval ratings for a governor. Yet Codey stepped aside so Corzine couldr run.

Therefore I think that the best candidate Corzine could pick to replace him in the Senate would be the most popular democrat in the state: Richard Codey.

1. My brother, now controlled by the Borg (nutso fake Christian wife)
loves Codey. He esp. liked that he seemed to be a very straight talker.

Not having been in NJ for 5 years and having to rely on my brother's report, Codey must be one heckuva guy.

5. I really hate to hear this....I'd hoped he would serve in the senate....
for a long time. Menendez would be my pick but Pallone would also work well.

4. Yes, appoint Codey to you seat!
However, and I should caution, if Codey is appointed, the Republicans will spin it as:
"Corzine made a deal with Codey not to run for Governor, in exchange Codey would get his Senate Seat. Typical Democrat Party corruption!"
Also, do we really know much about Codey's background? He has been in state politics for more than 20 years, and the Republicans could find something on him that links him with the machine. I do not want another Torricelli.

6. I hope he wants it, a great victory here tonight
Rubbed Forrester's shit right back in his face, finished him in politics, and Codey earned it and deserves it, and I hope he accepts it.

But you know Andrews and Menendez are going to fight over the seat. They think they're "owed".

7. Obviously it seems that Codey doesn't want bigtime politics on his life
Or he would have run for Governor again. He had the popularity to do it.

I think he likes the quieter side of politics. I don't blame him.
