2. McCain seems logically.
Being a former POW, he would be against torture period.

And this is what pisses me off about John McCain. There are flashes of humanity through the partisanship.

He's like Jekyll and Hyde.

5. He doesn't want to hurt the GOP but ...
maybe he's realizing the party needs some serious surgery in order to remain viable.

8. On one of the threads I've visited at this site, everyone insists
that the leaker must be Sen. Roberts. As Chairman of some committee, he is the only repub senator that had this info. The only other senator that new about the black sites was the Democratic Vice/Co-Chair, Sen. Rockefeller.

9. I'm hoping it was Jeff Sessions
because we sorely need a real senator here in Alabama.

10. ROFLMAO... Frist was all outraged and demanded that the leak
be investigated!

"Dear Chairman Hoekstra and Chairman Roberts:

We request that you immediately initiate a joint investigation into the possible release of classified information to the media alleging that the United States government may be detaining and interrogating terrorists at undisclosed locations abroad. As you know, if accurate, such an egregious disclosure could have long-term and far-reaching damaging and dangerous consequences, and will imperil our efforts to protect the American people and our homeland from terrorist attacks.

(snip)

The leaking of classified information by employees of the United States government appears to have increased in recent years, establishing a dangerous trend that, if not addressed swiftly and firmly, likely will worsen. The unauthorized release of classified information is serious and threatens our nation's security. It also puts the lives of many Americans and the security of our nation at risk.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

William H. Frist, M.D."

But then, THIS happened:

"UPDATE #2: CNN confirming that it may have been Republican Senator and perhaps Republican staffers as well. Cheney was on Hill last Tuesday -- "everything in the story was said by Cheney" in the meeting. Blitzer calling it a "bombshell" story -- that the GOP may be investigating themselves. Lott saying that it could be an ethics investigation, "we can't keep our mouths shut" according to Lott. Reporting that Lott walked into a roomful of reporters and made the statements and left reporters "stunned.""

http://firedoglake.blogspot.com/

It just doesn't get any funnier than this! Trent Lott is sure a party pooper, ever since Bush-Rove-Frist threw him out on his ear...
