Ahmed Chalabi to meet Cheney (this week)
http://www.iimcr.org/blog/index.cfm

Washington D.C.—Ahmed Chalabi, deputy prime minister of Iraq and once a U.S. favorite to replace Saddam Hussein, has not lost his luster with Vice-President Dick Cheney. Mr. Chalabi will hold a private meeting with Vice-President Cheney during his visit to Washington D.C. this week, the first such trip in more than two years.

Though not on his official schedule, Mr. Chalabi is counting on meeting his biggest backer in the Bush administration, Vice-President Dick Cheney. Among other heavy hitters, Mr. Chalabi is also scheduled to meet with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Mr. Chalabi will arrive in Washington D.C. late Tuesday, November 8th, on a British Airways Flight from London. He will stay at the Ritz-Carleton Hotel in the Georgetown section of Washington D.C., where he has booked no less than eight hotel suites for himself and staff.

Though he has been accused in the past by Washington officials of giving Iran classified intelligence before Saddam Hussein was toppled, Mr. Chalabi has been telling Vice-President Cheney’s aides that he is the only Iraqi leader who can control the Iranians. Chalabi’s message is short and simple: support me or Iran will become a greater adversary than you could ever have imagined.

Meeting to get their stories straight?

3. It'll be like old times!
They can sit around, have a drink and laugh at their past collaboration....

"Do you remember how we completely hoodwinked the American people into believing it was necessary to invade Iraq?"

4. Chalabi is that character from Dr. Zhivago
Victor Komarovsky I think - the manipulator who always manages to end up on top.

So Chalabi was just in Iran where I am sure he was telling the Iranians that he is the only one wh ocan keep the americans off of their backs.

15. Oh, there's much more to the story. He is speaking at AEI, on Wed.
And also, supposedly, he will meet with Condi Rice, who not so long ago promised a criminal investigation of him. Personally, I think there should be a big demonstration, with lots of signs, labeling him for the criminal he is.

I don't know why, but Chalabi makes me angrier than almost anything else. So he's now stolen thousands from his own INC, mislead the country into war, sold US intelligence to Iran - yet the neoconservatives STILL welcome him back with open arms. WHY, WHY, WHY?
Wilkerson said on "News Hour" that the Administration's plan (only plan) for occupying Iraq was to stay for 90 days, then install Chalabi as the new leader & leave. They must still think somehow that they can follow this plan. They want to put a puppet in the Iraq presidency. But to me, it sounds like the perfect plan to finally spark civil war in Iraq.

28. Chalabi's road to victory
Commentary: Chalabi's road to victory
By ARNAUD DE BORCHGRAVE
UPI Editor at Large

WASHINGTON, March 29 (UPI) -- With only three months to go before L. Paul Bremer trades in his Iraqi pro-consul baton for beachwear and a hard-earned vacation, the country's most controversial politician is already well positioned to become prime minister.

Ahmad Chalabi, the Pentagon's heartthrob and the State Department's and CIA's heartbreak, has taken the lead in a yearlong political marathon. Temporary constitutional arrangements are structured to give the future prime minister more power than the president. The role of the president will be limited because his decisions will have to be ratified by two deputy presidents, or vice presidents. Key ministries, such as Defense and Interior, will be taking orders from the prime minister.

Chalabi holds the ultimate weapons -- several dozen tons of documents and individual files seized by his Iraqi National Congress from Saddam Hussein's secret security apparatus. Coupled with his position as head of the de-Baathification commission, Chalabi, barely a year since he returned to his homeland after 45 years of exile, has emerged as the power behind a vacant throne. He also appears to have impressive amounts of cash at his disposal and a say in which companies get the nod for some of the $18.4 billion earmarked for reconstruction. One company executive who asked that both his and the company's name be withheld said, "The commission was steep even by Middle Eastern standards."

29. This is an insult to the American people. Have they no shame?
Getting stories straight? Blackmail? Chalabi burn through his billions? Splainin to Dick about the catastrophic success in Iraq? Or, just returning to the scene of the crime?
