Why does D.U. and the left "eat it's own"?

Seriously! Why waste time on this Mark Crispen stuff when we have so many more things to discuss.

For instance...I was talking to a friend and we were saying, "What will be the big discussion this weekend? Torture, Rove, Libby, Bush, Cheney, or the war in Iraq?

Well, I logged into D.U. after working for Progessive causes here where I live and I discovered nobody gave a hoot about that anymore. They were too busy shooting down one of their own.

It appears the smear campaign is not only a tool of the Right but an implement of self-destruction on the left too!

How many people will leave D.U. because of it? How many people will leave the Progressive party and instead join the other side because we've so successfully smeared our own people.

This attack and smear stuff has long term effects on all of us, not just on our own "choice candidate" and I'm asking that D.U. start working to get the message out about the other side's crimes instead of picking fights about our own philosophical differences. They commit crimes and that MUST be where the focus stays.

So...what's up with the indictments, the torture, the National Security leaking?

Have we brought the conmen down yet?

There are lots of trolls and other people with their own agenda.

As for some of the real critical commentary, I think - within reason - that's a healthy thing. It is what will preserve Democrats and ultimately lead to the fracturing paranoia of the Grand Old Psychopaths when they can't trust each other because they don't know where any of them really stand.

BUT...

All day yesterday and friday night, there was not a huge debate about Rove, Libby, Torture, Media propaganda.

How will we win elections if people, like lurkers, come in and see: kerry bashing, Clinton bashing, Clarke bashing, etc...?

5. I was not aware of this issue until I saw your thread.

I've been on DU all morning discussing '06, '08, the VA/CA Governor's races, the War, the CIA, etc.

What an amusing post!

I agree, it is shameful how these people on DU constantly engage in political discussions and make comments on the news of the day. Don't these people realize that political discussions on DU are frowned upon.

I would respectfully propose that you take the energy you are expending in scolding your DU brethren and redirect it by actually posting something that is important to you. I think it is pretty silly to write off the Miller discussion here on DU in such general terms. DU is a place where ideas and politics are discussed in an unrefined and raw form. Of course there will be trolls, whiners, madmen, freepers, juvenile delinquents, BushCo zombies and the like injecting nonsense and bringing up meaningless topics, but that is the nature of this beast and most thinking people are able to separate the wheat from the chaff quite easily and quickly.
