Discussion of Dean alternative is waaaaay premature for Dean supporters
Clearly Dean knows what he needs to do...he's a smart man and he's pursuing a strategy that allows him to get to March 2nd (for the 12 state (incl. California) + 1000 delegates.

He can 'show" in several...win one a good one (like Mich and Wash() and be there.

Head to head for a month feb 3 to march 2...Dr Dean vs Kerry.

I hope it's a war...the outsider vs the insider.

4. I think Kerry supporters are exposing their own weakness
For a candidate whose sole appeal is electability, a failure to "win" in two states would be a crushing blow to one's support. The same can be said of media attacks... if the media isn't on your side, your prospects look dim and the supporters who care only about deposing Bush will flee.

That's why they don't understand Dean's campaign. They just don't get a candidate who will say things that he believes in, but are unpopular. They can't understand how attacking that candidate will energize rather than alienate his supporters. And they can't understand how Dean supporters won't throw their support to the more "electable" Kerry now that he's saying the same things Dean is.

Dean, and we Dean supporters, are in this for the long haul.

putting in hours for Dean this week while I try to keep my job. I'm in Missouri so this is a busy, busy week for us. Because of the Gep influence here, we are left to fight this fight from the grassroots level. I will continue to fight for Dr. Dean with all my energy until I hear him say it is over.

I believed in his message when I started back in August and I still believe in it. The man hasn't changed. The only change has been how he is portrayed in the press.

8. STICK WITH HIM!!!!!
Gumbo, I want you to know I'm supporting Dean in Ga., so I have as tough or thougher fight than ou do! Hang in there!!!! Mo. vote will be over soon and you'll get to rest then.

I know Gephardt was the strongest in MO., but those voters have to go somewhere, and Dean was one of the few candidates who even bothered with Mo. before this week. Dean also had the support of several unions there.

I'll be watching, and if I can help from Ga., let me know!!!!!

Nobody is twisting your arm. What's wrong with talking?

isn't that all about persuading people to support your candidate?

13. I don't think the person is saying you can't discuss this
They seem to be voicing their opinion that it's way too soon for them to be thinking about alternatives.

11. They have the right to discuss alternatives
That is part of what democracy is supposed to be about - choices and deliberation. A person's timing is their own business.

I think it is healthy that some Dean supporters are realizing that the nomination has to be earned, and is not a given.

12. I'm with Dean until the convention
If he gets the nomination, I'm with him until the election.

If he doesn't get the nomination, I'll support the nominee (although, I have to say, it won't be with the enthusiasm I would have had for Dean).

In either case, I'm leaving the Democratic Party. Or, perhaps I should say, I feel the Party is leaving me.

Dean kept me from leaving the Party for a while, but I'm back on track to becoming an Independent small "d" democrat.

It's not like Dean just got rid of his campaign manager. And remember, Dean has TONS of money, right? Dean's gonna win this thing! He's going all the way to the White House! </sarcasm>

19. quite mean spirited
was that necessary?

We know Trippi's gone and we know about the $$. Still some of us do not run into the arms of the first person to tell us we need to leave Dean and join their campaign. I see that as strong character and some self-respect. You apparently see it as worthy of being mocked and taunted.

Interesting contrast.

17. Here's my take
One of the reasons I like Dr. Dean is because he seemed to posses good judgement (among other reasons). Now that will be put to the test. Not everything that may transpire will be in his control, but if he pulls himslef out of the fire, that will only confirm my opinion of him.
