Serious question about "Our first lady" - Laura Bush (aka Laawra)
Is there anything whatsoever she has done for us?

For 5 years now she has been our first lady, I assume she has a staff, she does not have to do the cooking and cleaning, she has no job, and I do not know of a single cause or interest she has exhibited.

I know of no way in which the country has benefitted from her.
I apologize for the light weight question, but I don't want to despise her so much if she has a raison d'etre other than just walking around.

I see her look roundeyed, doped up and smiling, and hold hands with *Bush while they walk in front of Condi?

Is there more?

1. I think she may have been the personality model for the remake of
the movie 'The Stepford Wives.'

2. Seriously, what has she done? Anything?
Besides remaining perpetually doped up for the last 5 years? I can't think of a more useless first lady.

3. I was just wondering what happened to her inner-city gang project.
I mean, we all expected SO much from that.

4. 2 things I remember about her--she is actively interested in
education and she was active in promoting women's rights in Afghanistan--she also helped raise funds for female children to have school supplies in Afghanistan.

17. Was she shilling the books Neil was making a bundle selling?
Obviously, she doesn't give a rats ass about women's rights in Afghanistan or anywhere else.

19. She was interested in women's rights in Afghanistan until
Oprah turned down the invitation to go. She and Bush dropped the subject after that happened. Jay Leno's wife must be livid also, after Leno fawned all over him - Bush used them all for his gain, but Oprah didn't fall for it.

5. I'm not sure that doing anything for us
is in her job description but I get your point. I suppose that the carbon dioxide she exhales does provide respiration for some trees but other than that she's is kind of a useless POS.

13. She came up with the White ouse Book Fair idea
which is held each year.

I look forward to it on C-Span.

She also did the same thing when Bush was Governor of Texas. I went to one in Austin once. Lots of Democratic authors involved.

She wasn't elected. It's always great when a First Lady takes on an important cause but its really not a requirement.

23. What the hell are you talking about?
Do you want her to go on some stupid war on drugs or something? She does random shit that will never change the world. If she does nothing then that doesn't matter either. She's not an elected official. She's just unfortunate enough to be married to the president of the United States
