Tell me again how there's no difference between the parties?
I'm very sorry. I'm sure this has been posted to death already but on my drive in this morning I had Steve Inskeep from tell me how the republicans are going to "balance the budget" by cutting programs for the old and poor and then give out $70 billion in tax cuts to the rich. I feel sick. I feel like crying. We need to let everyone we know what is going on. I'll say this for them. When they get into power they do what they say they're going to do. In the meantime our healthcare system is a shambles and few if any cities have relevant mass transit systems. FUCK!

2. Both parties want that corporate dollar. They will throw a few
bones to the progressives and there are a few real progressives in the Democratic Party, Boxer and others. But, look at how many actually voted for the Iraq war. That is very telling. Look at how Kerry ran his campaign, lacking in all emotion and passion and power. He lost his anti-war heart for fear of offending. We get mediocre candidates with no passion because they will not speak their heart for fear of losing that corporate dollar. When they get in office they throw us a few bones, small improvements in health care, environmental issues, etc..., But nothing really changes for the good of the PEOPLE.

3. Kerry wouldn't have gutted the EPA. We don't know
if he would have taken us to war.(Clinton bombed Iraq from time to time but he didn't start an all out war). He wouldn't have cut food stamps or health care the way bush did. He wouldn't put the same people on the supreme court.

I agree that in the past many repub presidents did positive things and nixon might have been further to the left on some domestic issues than kerry. teddy roosevelt did some great environmental efforts. Back in the day when conservatism meant conservation.

No one can convince me that kerry is anywhere near as bad as bush.

6. no way, I didn't mean to imlpy that. I still believe Kerry might have
said one thing to win and done more good once he got in. That was my hope watching him campaign.

4. RIght, unless the people friggin demand it,
no real changes are made.

Think about the Civil Rights movement. It took a hell of a lot more than just voting certain candidates into office. It took sit-ins, marches, protests, etc. It took YEARS of all that.

7. The answer is just below us...

The answer is just below us (at this instant) in the thread which
discusses how Democratic Senator Nelson is going to sponsor the
revival of the effort to repeal the Estate Tax.

By the way, a lot of folks were hurt when Bill Clinton ended
"wlefare as we know it" without putting in place much of the
stuff that would then be needed.

And maybe Joe Biden should spend a little more time worrying about
his constituents and a little less worrying about big corporations
that incoporate in the State of Delaware.

8. The people who say this are not concerned with the facts.
Edited on Fri Nov-04-05 11:58 AM by LoZoccolo
They are likely:

- Manipulating people to call attention to their pet issues - which they have failed to call significant public attention to - by pushing a distorted view of the overall difference between candidates.
- Deriving some psychic benefit from feeling like an outsider.

Either way, they don't care if you know the truth.

Should we allow these people to sap our precious time a year before the 2006 elections? I don't think so. The ignore button is at the top of their messages; it is the little picture of the guy sleeping.
