Are Green Party members part of the Democratic Party ?
Or are they independent to vote as they wish, just as a Republican or any other Party?

1. Like anyone, they can vote for whoever they want.
But generally they vote for Green Party candidates, one would think.

3. If you are a Green Party member, then obviously you
can't be a Democrat or a Republican or a Libertarian Party member.

Sometimes Greens vote for Democrats just as sometimes Libertarians vote for Republicans. Sometimes they don't.

4. We don't have a strong party structure in America
Greens vote for whomever they please, just like Dems or Reps. Most Greens I know vote for Greens if they're on the ballot; if not, they tend toward other left-leaning third-party candidates, or else vote Dem if the choice is between Dem and GOP.

5. In Florida You Have To Register WITH A Party To Vote In Primaries...
but then can vote anyway you want in a National election. If you don't want to designate, then you don't vote in primaries.

MOST Greens vote with the Dems in National elections.... save for Perot & Nader!

6. I don't get it. Of course they aren't part of the Dem Party. Nader has
proved that. Furthermore in this climate I'll go so far as to say that a vote for a green presidential candidate is a vote for the republican party.

In local elections Depending on what is going on I may consider a green but only if it doesn't endanger risking losing a seat to a Republican which is about 100% in GA.

Some Greens may win in state or local elections in Seattle.

But the real battle on the national front....a vote for a Green Party candidate running for President may as well be counted in the Republican corner.

That's how I feel.

7. Separate, Independent
The Green Party of the United States is a separate, independent political party organization.

We tend to vote for Green Party candidates, but will also support genuine progressive Democrats. In some states ballot access is restrictive limiting the number of Green candidates, in others access is automatic. In my state, Colorado, we have minor party status and ballot access is just like the old parties.

The most important and notable distinction right now with the Democratic Party establishment is that Greens saw through Bush's lies and were against the attack on Iraq from the very beginning.

8. Who's stopping you?
It's your funeral.

Others having an opinion on that vote doesn't mean you can't vote that way. It just means others have an opinion. And always will, I reckon.

You may have to suffer some slings and arrows for what some might see as an unpopular vote. But why should that mean that you aren't free. You can be just as free, independant and unpopular as you want.

9. I'm a Democrat who sometimes votes Green and supports their platform.
The Greens are the best alternative to the corporate parties.
