Who are the "moderate" Republicans in the Senate?
Surely not every GOP senator is cheek to jowl with the neo-cons. I'd be more than greatful for a list of moderate or seemingly reasonable Republican Senators. I am working on a theory...and ultimately a project that needs the information.

My own senators are a democrat and a Bush appointee. Other than the party leadership and long-term senators I'm pretty clueless about the makeup of the current Senate.

8. Don't forget Chuck Hagel (R-NE), Voinovich (R-OH), Spector (R-PA)

Plus, I think we're going to see some conservatives jump ship any day now. In the house, at minimum, Shays (R-CT) and Paul (R-TX) have jumped. There will be more.

Both DeWine (R-OH) and Graham (R-SC) have said they will support the nuclear option this time so we should not bank on their support.

9. Okay, here's what I'm thinking.
We have 44 Democratic Senators, 1 Independent and anywhere from 7-9 Republicans that may see reason from time to time. (Sorry folks, I cannot personally include McCain in this list. When I think "cheek to jowl" with him it's not Bush's facial cheek I imagine these days.)

So that's approximately 52-54 Senators -- a majority. What about a full-court press on the senators we think aren't beholden to Bush and the neocons? Those who can see the writing on the wall and know they are aligned with a weakened party.

11. I agree. If they are still Republicans,

they are parasites on the American people. There is no way any of us would have stayed with this Party if we knew it to be guilty of the things the Republican Party is guilty of. They see what the Republican Tax cuts for the wealthy has done to the deficit, the almost non-existent Middle Class, and the poorest of the poor, so for them to still be on-board means that they agree with that (I don't hear them speaking out against that policy very often, if at all, do you?)

They see the cronyism. They see the War Profiteering. They see the torture of prisoners in our custody and the end of the Geneva Convention. They know they are members of the Party that lied to the American people about the need to go to war, and our own children and a lot of Iraqi people are dead now because of it. They see the intention to bankrupt this country, gut the Constitution, and install a Fascist Theocracy (anyone remember hearing them object publicly to any of those things lately? Me either.) By silently going along with this Party, by staying in the Party at all, they endorse all these policies, and remain morally responsible for them. Democrats like Lieberman who continually vote with them are as responsible, and should be held accountable.

Just my opinion.
