Push them to use the "nuclear option" They won't be around long
enough for it to benefit them much. And they might be surprised that they won't get the majority vote. This would be a good time for some moderates to wield their power and stand up to the bullies.

1. I agree - especially because the pendulum will swing...
...just as it always has in the past. And that means they will be in the minority again, and bereft of the filibuster.

Peace.

3. But..but..we need to save the filibuster for something "important".
Not something trivial like packing the courts with fascists.

4. Exactly....we WANT them to use the nuclear option....
Right now, most of America questions the honesty and integrity of Republicans. America is also questioning Republican abuses of power.

A filibuster is legal. It's a legitimate part of the process.

However, "the nuclear option" is not legitimate. It's a Republican-invented power play that usurps our governmental process. It's an abuse of power.

If Republicans pulled "the nuclear option" it would sink their polls. They could never distance themselves from BushCo--because they would be viewed as abusers--just like the White House thugs.

Stand your ground Dems. You have the right to filibuster. It's part of the process. Give the Reps just enough rope with which to hang themselves.

Open the door to disaster, and let them walk themselves right through. America will be aghast if Republicans pull "the nuclear option." Let them do it.

Please...do it. The extreme wacko faction of the Reps will LOVE this move, but Independents will shriek in horror.

Do it....please, Republicans. Go nuclear on us. I dare ya.

5. And can you imagine the hay we can make since Cheney
will be the person who makes the ruling on the nuclear option? I think it's win-win.
