ABC's Boston Legal really sending a message about Iraq tonight!!
Edited on Tue Nov-01-05 10:48 PM by Roland99
James Spader's character ripping into the media (esp. FOX - unnamed) as paying attention to Terri Schiavo and missing white girls in Aruba but not willing to spend the least bit of interest in our fallen soldiers.

1. I saw the preview: He said "We say we honor our troops, but why don't we
show that by giving a damn when they die?!"

30. I think so. The addition of Candace Bergen was a nice touch for lefties.
Denny Crane is a hardcore Repuke (but I love his character) as is the other attorney Brad. I've always thought Shore is a lefty but he's a lawyer first.

His appeal last night for people to just TALK about the war, regardless of politics, was a great thing to see.

3. James Spader and the writers of Boston Legal just hit
one out of the ballpark!

"We have a government and a nation in denial about this war!"

"At least during Viet Nam our media told us and showed us enough about what was going on to get us all really mad!"

8. While I agree with what Spader said.....
expect it to lose any neocon support, assuming it has any of that ilk in its viewership in the first place. That must have really pissed them off. We're supposed to focus on the mission!! Remember guys!! Just like what that sniveling little turd William Crystal told us!!

so I fully expect the powers-that-be to get it cancelled after tonight's stirring indictment of this illegal, disgusting war.

13. At the height of Spader's great speech
our local ABC affiliate barged in with some "important" local news development. We switched over to another ABC station to catch the rest of it. This was a flagrant instance of local censorship. I am trying to reach the WQAD (Moline IL) to register a protest).

20. Some BS about road closings or something
we switched away so fast to the other ABC station I didn't catch much of it. The station that did the censoring always has the Sex Offender Update section in each news broadcast, spending time on some miserable wretch who might be moving into some neighborhood, or they have interminable health sections on obvious topics like eating tomatoes could be good for you or else lengthy pathos sections where people have been evicted or kid hurt in an accident and they linger and make sure to show a lot of tears etc. Real Nelly Down the Well stuff. Sad news but not any serious coverage of national or international happenings and rather superficial local coverage except for the morbid exanples I mentioned earlier. They do have some good sections on nature studies though. Although this is not really news either. A pity this news program is so lacking since I like one of the announcers since he is a brother of a good friend of our family.

15. So glad to see you posted this!
Best night of TV in a long while. Did anyone see the show just prior to this one? "Commander in Chief" They did a scene with Madam Pres. visiting A hurricane shelter in Fla. She was reading to some children, and was interrupted with some crucial news whispered in her ear. She excused herself and gave the book to one of the kids to finish reading, got up and LEFT IMMEDIATELY !! Remind you of anyone else? She showed America tonight all the RIGHT things a Pres. should do!! Then Barbara Boxer on the Daily Show was like icing on the cake!! Thank God for Liberal Actors and Writers! I think we should counter act the neocon protests with praise to the shows and their Networks. After all it's the Advertisers who have the final say, and we are also their target audience. Democrats buy their products as well, and deserve to be represented as well as the "rich and powerful"! I would say all in all. it's been a banner day for us!! :toast: :bounce: DC

17. The book scene on Commander in Chief was great.
Very well done.. they didn't have to say a word, she just handed the book to one of the kids, and moved on to handle the crisis.

Wonder if Chimpy and Pickles were watching?

18. Awesome episode tonite
I love this show. Most of the characters seem to lean left, but Denny Crane always keeps them in line by telling them they're Bush Bashing. He's such a hoot. I admit I watch mostly because James Spader is hot, but they've covered a lot of ground in the last few weeks. They did an environmental thing with the salmon farm that was hilarious but still got the point across. This one's must see TV for me.

24. Here's a little of the drama -
Boston Legal Takes on the Iraq War
November 2nd, 2005

Boston Legal took on the Iraq War tonight… with a case about “a paralegal who is suing the U.S. Government, to vindicate the death of her brother killed in the Iraq war.”

Here’s a bit of the drama from James Spader’s character as he tears into the MSM…

“We talk about honoring our soldiers, well how about giving a damn when they’re killed…The American public is more concerned about whether or not Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are a couple… The media spends more time on a missing Aruba girl… We have no time table on leaving Iraq… Mothers and fathers spend money on body armor for their kids, that they shouldn’t even have to wear… because they are not supposed to be there.”

...have John Kerry as a guest!

What were the exact words toward the end from Spader? Someone know?

Kirk (on edit: Crane, lol) says we gotta stop them there

Spader said something like: if we can't even dissent here, in fifty years we will be fighting here.

The show is a political kick ass, and the women are gorgeous, eh?

28. Hey, Boston Legal writers... here's an idea
Have the lawyers take on an election issue. Especially against the evoting machinery. It would be great to see James Spader arguing the case for a stolen election.
