Wonderful Huffington piece on Judy Dean -- my 1000th post - Yippie

JUDY DEAN AND THE POLITICS OF AUTHENTICITY

Arianna Huffington

Dr. Dean for President!

No, I'm not talking about Howard, who finished second in New Hampshire --
13 points behind John Kerry.

I'm talking about the other doctor in the house of Dean -- Judy Steinberg
Dean, MD.

Like most of America, I got my first chance to judge Judy during her
stanch-the-Iowa-bleeding sit down with Diane Sawyer last week.

I watched the interview with my 14-year old daughter and found myself
touched in a way I rarely have been during the countless hours I've spent
watching this kind of political theater.

"Why are you tearing up, Mom?" my daughter asked me near the end of the
segment....

Judy Dean is my new heroine!

1. It is one terrific piece
I was sorry to see Arianna get involved in the California circus because it diminished her importance as a commentator. But this one is absolutely one of her best.

She hit it, bang on the head. The best, most important thing that a First Lady should be is a role model for young girls - screw the ceremonial crap and the fashion show. Be a WOMAN, and be your own person. Judy Dean is a sterling example of that.

2. I Wasn't Sorry

I worked on Arianna's campaign. I'm so glad she ran. It is the first time I really had the guts to "get out there" actually I went to community colleges and talked to the kids. Did you know that the GOP has been filling the college kids with crud for years. They idolize Reagan, they have never heard of Iran/Contra, his deficit or anything else.

What I think is...ripples in a pond. That is what people like Arianna and Dennis K create. Maybe it will take some time for the ripples to reach all the way to shore, but, these people make a difference.

5. I admire both Huffington and Steinberg-Dean.
I'm going to write the W Post today and ask why we can't have Huffington as a regular columnist.
