don't just shut the senate down
if dems do manage to get the filibuster and shut down over the Scalia jr SCOTUS nod just that won't do in my opinion. We'd need a huge rally in the capital to show our solidarity in this fight. Though I won't be satisfied until there is a viable third party option in this country I'm in with the dems til then. I think it's time that we show OUR opossition to this....fucking facist. Imagine a senate shutdown and huge rally for democracy, freedom, justice, and hopefully a vague showing of what is still possible, a future for us, our children and our planet.

Don't just shut it down...let's show solidarity with those who are in the arena starting what will hopefully be a fight for the future of freedom.

Every last one....Lieberman sent me an email back saying "he don't read mail from other states, write your own Senator".

November 1, 2005

Dear Friend:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me. I appreciate the
opportunity to know your opinions on the pressing issues facing our
nation. Regrettably, due to the huge volume of mail that I receive, I am
only able to research and address comments sent to me from Connecticut
residents. If you are not from Connecticut, you may want to consider
sending a message to the Senators from your state of residence. You can
do so by visiting http://www.senate.gov/ for a link to the web sites of
each member of the United State Senate. If you are currently residing out
of state, but are still a Connecticut resident or have a connection to
Connecticut, please be certain to use your Connecticut address or indicate
your Connecticut connection in the first paragraph of your email.

I value having the benefit of your thoughtful concerns, since I do
receive detailed weekly reports from my staff providing a sampling of
comments from across the country on timely issues before Congress.

My official Senate web site is an excellent source of information about
my work here. As you know, you can access the site at
http://lieberman.senate.gov. I encourage you to visit my web site, or if
you have already done so, to return to it often. I am also pleased to let
you know that I have launched an email news update service through my web
site. You can sign up for that service by visiting
http://lieberman.senate.gov and clicking on the "Subscribe Email News
Updates" button at the bottom of the home page. I hope these are
informative and useful.

Thank you again for letting me know your views and concerns.

Sincerely,

Joseph I. Lieberman
UNITED STATES SENATOR

5. Who are the Senators in the Mod Squad?
I want to contact all of them too. I have run into that before too where they only want to listen to residents of their own state. I reply that U.S. Senators in voting on such important matters as a Supreme Court Justice, represent the entire country.

8. "Thank you again for letting me know your views and concerns"
after he just told you he can't "address" your comments.

What a dickhead.

9. Gee Joe, you're from Connecticut, but . . .
You and your colleagues are making a whole bunch of decisions that affect me personally, and I don't have any say whatsoever over your ill-advised "compromise"? Or you won't read my letters because they're not postmarked in Connecticut? Then quit making decisions for me; that's all I'm asking. Confine your decisions to the folks of Connecticut, and quit negotiating away my rights to representation in the Senate. Mmmmkay?

10. I just emailed Pryor
who is my Senator. I know he reads the email, at least enough to send an answer, though it usually comes late.

12. I am from CT
and every email I send Jomentum I get that auto-response. Not that I expect a handwritten response to my calls for him NOT to blindly follow *, but it would be nice to KNOW he actually sees/reads/is told about the email (I know I know - expecting too much when they are probably inundated - but Jesus H Christ, he can add my name to the salutation line when he is asking for money!!!!)

3. absolutely!
But not just one big march. There should be plenty of local marches for folks like me who can't afford to travel to DC. My local UPJ group will be on this like a heartbeat if it is set up.

6. agreed
not just one march but a host of them around the country.I think if we showed around the country that this just wasn't a Senate fight we couldn't be ignored.

Freedom is the ability to be it's also the ability to do.

7. We need to stand with them some how.
If they filibuster, we need some kind of action. This may be the most important action we do, more important than the 24 Sep march. It would show the Senate Dems that we stand with them. It would give them strength to move to the next step.

We should reward good deeds. They need a strong indication that we're with them on this and they do not have to stand alone.
