How long before the Dems get blamed for the Miers withdrawal?
We know that the Right Wing Fundies were responsible for Miers withdrawing her name from nomination, but in the future, when the Alito vote or filibuster comes about, what do you wanna bet the Dems are somehow blamed for not allowing "an up or down vote" on Miers?

As we all know, everything is always the fault of the Democrats. This will be tagged as another example of the Democrats' obstructionist tactics.

Watch for it. It will probably be adopted as one of the reasons why Bush has had so much trouble filling Justice O'Connor's seat.

IMHO, the court should choose its own Chief from among its Justices. Where, in the Constitution, does the President get the authority to designate the Chief Justice?

1. We already been. What have you been nappin or somethin?
Mann Coulter said it was Reids fault for suggesting Miers to *.
Not like the fucker has ever listened to Reid before but still.
Blame game on Meirs started on the day she withdrew.
Not that we didn't know a week earlier the Rovian plan was to have her withdraw. I'm sure they told Miers take the heat as long as you can but in the end you'll withdraw.

4. IMHO Miers was never a serious candidate.
I think Bush put her out there because she was a woman and to draw fire from Dems and he was shocked that his Reicht flank was so vocal. He needed to nominate a woman, so he nominated one who was not qualified so that he could say he tried.

His plans were to blame us for her withdrawal and I think he still will. The truth has never stopped him before, why should it now?

I can't stand all the hatred from Coulter. Her followers must have serious psychological problems to pay for that kind of venom. They are probably very dangerous people, ready to explode when they don't get their way. She only fuels their hatred. Like Limbaugh, she is inciting them to inflict harm on others.

2. How long? 10...9...8...7...
Dems can't come out looking bad in history with this judicial nomination. The republicans will need to change laws, rules, and ethics just to get the nominee they want.

If they do that and judicial rulings start swinging against popular opinion, history will not treat the "Turn of the Century Neo-Conservative Movement" well in the history books. They will be remembered more like the McArthy Era, i.e., an example of how Americans should NOT treat other Americans.

3. There is no way Dems can get blamed on Miers
it is so completely a Republican debacle that it would be disingenuous to suggest otherwise.
