Questions of Trust in the Press Room - WaPo
scott mclellan is a disgrace, and a proven liar...which in bush's alternate reality means he will be getting the medal of freedom soon...ive always disliked this smarmy keeper of the truth, but my level of hatred and loathing for the "press" guy has reached new and previously unthought of lows.

i wish i could slap that silly fucking grin off his face for evenyone at DU.

The question came politely, almost sweetly. Toward the end of the White House daily briefing yesterday, USA Radio Network's Connie Lawn asked press secretary Scott McClellan if he had considered resigning.

McClellan said he had not. In fact, the spokesman added, "I feel pretty good."

And why shouldn't he?

After three weeks of telling the world that Harriet Miers was the best possible Supreme Court nominee because she is a woman who was not an Eastern Ivy Leaguer serving on the appellate bench, McClellan made the case yesterday that the second-best possible Supreme Court nominee is Samuel Alito -- an Ivy League-educated man from New Jersey who has been on the appellate bench for 15 years.

Worse, McClellan personally vouched for White House officials Scooter Libby and Karl Rove, saying that they had nothing to do with the leak of a CIA agent's identity and that anybody who did would be fired. Libby was indicted in the case on Friday, Rove has been identified as a leaker but remains on the job -- and McClellan says that, on advice of counsel, he can't say a peep about the whole thing.

...NBC's David Gregory was no more trusting, telling McClellan that his credibility "may very well be on trial with the American public" and asking, "Don't you agree?"

"No," McClellan said,
and when Gregory continued to demand an answer, the spokesman told him he was "rude" and "disrespectful."

1. Anybody who believes Scotty is entitled to any respect is a world-class
jackass. And so is Scotty.

2. Welcome to the club!
Snotty McLiar is a disgrace to the human race. He has zero credibility with the American public.

4. Scotty's A Great Democratic Fundraiser
Every time I see that slimeball attempt to enable another regime lie, I'm ready to write another check to a struggling Democratic candidate.

The real credibility problem isn't just with Scotty, but with Gregory and Moran and King and Milbanks and all those corporate hacks who sat in that Press room for 4 years and just took dictation. They didn't question despite sources that were showing the lies of this regime almost from the outset. They allowed their ranks to be infiltrated by a mole to intimidate, compromise and humiliate the Press pool. Those asshats have still never come clean about that scandal.

Hell, I expect Scotty to lie every time his lips move. In fact, he's become a very good truth-teller as you can twist his assurances 180 degrees and that is generally how things shake out. He reminds me of Ron Ziegler...guys who love to lie and are good at it.

5. Oh, the press is never supposed to be rude or disrespectful (roll eyes)
even when the Press Secretary continues to be as evasive as ever. I'm surprised he didn't try to tell David Gregory what his (Gregory's) opinion of the War on Terra is.
