Hi, I just received an important message from MoveOn.org. Bush has caved to pressure from the far right and nominated Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. Alito is a notoriously radical judge who has attacked workers' rights, womens' rights and civil rights for years.

Please join me in signing the emergency petition to our Senators, asking them to stand up for us and block this nomination.

They're reaching for 250,000 signatures in 48 hours. They were at 68% when I signed on.

It's so easy and takes less time than it does to formulate and post a nasty comment about Bush's latest goofy Supreme Court nominee. (I recommend doing both.)

The Republicans attempt to install a right wing extremist judge that panders to Republican Christian fundamentalist fringe, can only diminish our rule law in the United States. In addition, the act makes the rest of the world view Americans and America, as ignoring international rules of law.

The Republican controlled military-industrial-complex via the PNAC, CIA etc., (Lewis "Scooter" Libby) created the Taliban and the Al Qaeda network, most of the world knows this fact. It is only by having liberalism minded judges, without extreme fundamental warmongering views, that we can have a judicial system, that will be respected by Americans, and the world.

By installing another fanatic, that just gives more reason for most to simply just ignore, the things that are said by the courts, rather then accept universal rules of laws that make the world more just and peaceful.

I personally believe that they do. If you go to moveon.org you can see several different causes that moveon was able to make a positive difference.

Sure, there are times that we sign petitions and it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. But more often than not I think it does help. The petition is the beginning of the process...
