Re: Scalito One in three US women will have an abortion in their lifetimes
I was surprised recently to learn that every third woman in the country in which I live has had an abortion.

http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/sfaa/north_carolina.html

One in three of my female cousins.

One in three of my female co-workers.

One in three of my female friends.

This puts in perspective just what is at stake with the nomination of Scalito to fill Sandra O’Connor’s seat on the SCOTUS.

I am not one of those males who wishes to see women in the US once again returned to the status of “property.”

I believe the right and ability of a woman to control her reproductive freedom is integral to her autonomy and personhood.

I will fight for every third woman in my life.

I believe we all must fight, because I believe women are our better half and deserve better than Scalito.

2. I do wish people would stop making it quantitative.
I appreciate the point you're making, but winning an argument about a woman's right to reproductive choice should never be based on numbers.

If only 1 woman in the US chooses to have an abortion, it is still her right to do so. Period.

Much like Iraq, keeping the body count low in an illegal war doesn't change the fact that it's still an illegal war.

3. Yes, about one in three women have had or will have an abortion
in their lifetimes. Also, if you go back a generation before Roe vs. Wade, it was one in ten women had an illegal and therefore, dangerous, life-threatening abortion.
