Michigan Gov. Granholm to endorse Kerry in presidential race
http://www.freep.com/news/statewire/sw91960_20040128.htm

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Gov. Jennifer Granholm plans to endorse U.S. Sen. John Kerry before Michigan's Feb. 7 Democratic caucuses, two Democratic sources in Michigan have confirmed.

Neither source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said when Granholm will make the announcement. Granholm spokeswoman Liz Boyd on Wednesday did not confirm or deny that Granholm would endorse Kerry, but said no date for an announcement has been set.

Granholm said earlier Wednesday that she has not endorsed anyone but said an endorsement could come either before Feb. 7 or before seven states hold their primaries and caucuses on Feb. 3.

Her husband, Dan Mulhern, is among those running Kerry's Michigan campaign, but until now Granholm has steadfastly declined to endorse or even name a favorite, saying she wanted to wait until closer to the caucuses.

1. Hmmmm
Michigan votes on the 7th. Interesting she should makes this announcement now, just as Howard Dean prepares to make a major offensive in the state.

2. She didn't "make this announcement now"
I expect she will make it closer to the caucus, as the article implies.

I think this was pretty much a foregone conclusion anyway.

I'm curious as to whether or not Kwame Kilpatrick will endorse a candidate. If he does, he can swing a lot of caucus votes.

They may actually hurt.

5. MI's first gentleman is on Kerry's steering committee
Why didn't the Dean campaign know this?
If they did know this, why are they spending so much $ in MI?
Seems truly weird to me.
