Dean Folk: Should Trippi Join the Kerry Campaign? Or off to Bahamas?

Joe Trippi made a great effort on the 1992 Brown Campaign. I thought he was the genius behind Dean co-opting the Internet cyber-left and the ant-war movement. Was this a deeply felt and sincere effort or just a campaign tactic.

Was it Trippi who was behind the vicious attacks on Kerry ("Slippery Washington Insider," "Waffler," "Cockroach" etc) or did this come from
Dean himself?

If Trippi was behind the great Dean campaign grass-roots effort wouldn't it be good for Dems if he became a Kerry volunteer to help grow the grass-roots effort in the Kerry campaign?
Or did Trippi make enough of a bundle on his percent of the Dean Ad buys to take off to the Bahamas just laugh it off?

Enquiring minds really want to know.

1. Trippi isn't going to Kerry
Trippi did this for Dean. Quite frankly, it couldn't have been done for Kerry. Trippi didn't invent the internet campaign. The internet campaigners found Dean, all Trippi did was embrace them and take them seriously.

4. You mean... Trippi stole the credit
Trippi tried to steal concept credit for lots of ideas others did the ground work on and got launched... Meet-Ups, for example.

7. Wrong, the world is blown away FROM the Dean movement...
if the polls (and Iowa and NH) are any indication

Why the hell would Kerry want Trippi?

8. the world? oh please....
Believe it or not, the world does not revolve around the Dean campaign. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time to denounce the war-- making him stand out from the others. The only thing remotely "revolutionary" about the campaign was its use of internet fundraising and the blog. And even THAT's not original-- I created a web site for a candidate in 2000 that had regular updates from the candidate, and a guestbook for supporters.

Dean is not the first candidate to have a "grassroots" following, and he's definately not the last.

13. Actually McCain...
did use the web pretty effectively. After his NH victory he recieved several thousand dollars in donations.

There was a lot to build from for Dean's campaign. The Meet Ups were an especially brilliant idea, but anyone have any articles on Dean's internet campaign and who actually came up with it? I'm really skeptical if it really was Trippi that did all that.

14. Dean never had 500,000 dedicated supporters, and he certainly doesn't now
There has never been any proof of the various lofty claims of Dean's numbers. He's claimed up to a million and a half on various ocasions, one of his clear pathological lies.

A liberal estimate would be 150,000 at it's height in the US, and that's nothing to yawn at, but he has misrepresented how many he's had on many, many, ocasions

15. I'm not sure it's a good idea to dismiss someone as "smug or stupid"
unless you offer evidence for your claims. There is no evidence that Dean was anything more than a creation of the media. Something like the well-known way that the Hollywood publicity machine created stars in the '30s and '40s out of unexceptional actors.

So please, show more courtesy.

24. Trippi wasn't behind it.
The internet campaign existed before Trippi joined. Also, the campaign has been in the hands of Dean supporters from the beginning. And that was only PARTLY trippis doing. Frankly, I was never a fan of Trippi, and a search of the GD archives will bear that out.

I wish I could encounter a Kerry supporter who actually understood what Dean's campaign is about. Sadly, too many people in America don't want to know.

to understand more about what now motivates Dean supporters and how we can all together work to change our country enough between now and November to take back our government -- Presidency, House, Senate.

34. Enquiring minds want to know what the point of this thread is
Why would Trippi have any interest in joining the Kerry campaing if he has already publicly stated that he supports Dean?

And when did Dean say "slippery" when talking about Washington insiders? As far as "waffler" goes, didn't Kerry say the same thing about Dean? And Dean never called Kerry a cockroach. but nice flame attempt. A for effort. :eyes:
