In the End, Only One Canididate Can Win
So one little piece of advice for those on "top" right now....

If you're still insulting the suppporters of other candidates, you ain't doing anything positive for your candidate's campaign. Sooner or later, a large group of all of us could be considered "losers", so remember this: you're going to need the support of those people you're currently insulting.

Think on that.

4. You're right, kef....
There can only be one candidate and we'll have to choose between him and Bush, no matter who it is or how he gets there...

5. Yep
It doesn't help your candidate to gloat. Remember what it felt like when your candidate was dismissed. A Dem candidate will need all of us to win. Thanks Kef.

9. Heck, it's less about the Dean campaign than you might think

I've seen stuff here in the past week about the Clark campaign (and every other campaign) that's made me sad...actually it's all gone up and down so much that just about every candidate has had a moment in the sun (however short) and a moment at the bottom (however long).

10. Insult supporters of candidates?...
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 11:48 PM by onehandle
No way.

But the folks who do so are fair game, imo.

Especially if they say, "I'll never vote for Dem candidate X".

They can go hang out with Nader, Rove, and Freepers.

11. The vast majority of negative threads are attacking Kerry
Who is this post meant to address? I will not post something to insult supporters of another candidate, and I don't believe anyone who supports Kerry or Dean should do so either.

I'm seeing it happen here in various ways from the people in every campaign...and it's happened throughout the campaign.

I've just been quietly reading the posts here the last two weeks. One week (or day) your Candidate X is the darling of the moment. That's when the people who like to come out and trash others for supporting another candidate. I've seen this happen one day to Clark supporters, the next to Dean, and then the next to Kerry, and then etc....

It's meant to address the supporters of every candidate. As mentioned in another post in this thread, there isn't a single candidate with over 50% support at the moment. For any candidate to win this fall, we're going to have to pull together and stop gloating and bashing others. If you want Candidate X to win, you aren't going to get that happening by driving off the supporters of the other candiates just because you want to gloat at others or continue to insult them.

Look at it this way: I might have switched support this week, but some of the current comments about Dean supporters and some of the past comments about Dean supporters are making it DAMN hard for me. It's not easy backing someone's else's candidate after having been called a cultist by the very same supporters who are now (or later on) wanting your help. You're supposed to attract the supporters, not repell them.

(There are candidate supporters here from every camp who has done this to one extent or another. It's not a campaign specific situation.)

17. There was an event at the Kerry headquarters
here in Delaware a while ago. There were several Dean supporters
outside holding Dean signs. Was it an insult or just plain tacky?

12. I have little respect for Dean
and his core supporters, and will never pretend to.

If you like what the soon-to-be Democratic nominee John Kerry is saying and want to see Bush out, then vote for him. If not, don't.

13. Thanks for the reminder, kep.
Fact is, no one single candidate has more than 50% of Democratic supporters. That means we're all gonna need each other.

May our nominee kick the resident out of the White House!

14. Sure. There are no Kerry slurs on DU. I just can't find any.
When Kerry has clinched it, all Democrats/Progressives will support him.

Or they have a reason that another 4 years of Bush is not a problem.

Every campaign has its fanatics, and there was no shortage then.
