The SCOTUS Appointment
Bu$h is screwed either way.

If he goes for a rabid RW'er to appease his Religious so-called "base" then he widens the divide that is growing between him and the moderate conservative majority and alienates the independents away from the Repubs in '06.

But if he doesn't, then all Hell is gonna break loose.

1. Some Repub pundit
this morning (can't remember which one) said that there are "scores" of good, conservative jurists out there who can satisfy BOTH Repub factions...who can bring them together like Roberts did.

Yeah, right.

2. It's what's known as being between a rock and a hard spot.
He's in no position to piss off anyone and I can't imagine he'd actually be looking for a fight, or filibuster, at this point. :nopity: It will prove interesting who he nominates. I myself hope it's someone we can all live with so we can move on until...more indictments!:bounce:

3. I doubt it's his choice
Edited on Sun Oct-30-05 03:46 PM by LiberalPartisan
After a monumental display of ineptitude by picking Miers, obviously his decision, I say that the ChristoNazis won't risk it and will tell Bush who he will be nominating. And he will comply.

4. Disagree
Bush is probably going to appoint an activist Movement Conservative. So what if the "moderate" Repubs, or anyone else, is irritated?

How many Repub Senators would vote against a wack-nut choice? Enough to stop the nomination? Doubtful. The 06 election won't matter once another extremist gets on the Court.
