Judge lifted protective order and then husband set wife on fire
Judge In Burned Woman Case Reassigned

(WJZ) Upper Marlboro, MD A Prince George's County judge who has been under fire after a protective order was lifted and a domestic violence victim was severly injured has been reassigned to administrative duties.

Officials with Maryland District Court made the announcement about Richard Palumbo on Wednesday in a brief statement.

A spokeswoman for the judiciary would not comment on the reason. This matter is under review by Chief Judge Ben Clyburn.

Palumbo has been criticized after a protective court order was dropped last month against Roger Hargrave, three weeks before he allegedly went to wife Yvette Cade's workplace and set her on fire. She remains hospitalized. Hargrave is charged with attempted murder and assault and is being held without bond.

1. oh really? it's a better article than your response implies.
And this idiotic excuse is pretty lame!

"The judge claims it was a clerical error. His supervising judge publically disagrees with that assessment."

It's more than 'male bashing'. It pointed out the stupidity and excuses of this judge.

Also..domestic violence IS a crime not just male bashing.

5. The judge is a bad man. This happens every day in America.
Women and children are the victims in most of the crimes in this country, and the system does little to help them. If rich white guys were having this done, instead of a protective order that often doesn't work, the SOB would have been in jail already.

This is not any kind of reverse sexism here. Geez.

Body-in-trunk suspect got lots of counseling
'Doing satisfactorily' after 6 months of weekly sessions
Jaxon Van Derbeken, Chronicle Staff Writer
Wednesday, October 26, 2005

"The El Sobrante man charged with murdering a woman he had repeatedly terrorized attended a two-hour counseling session for domestic violence offenders just days before the slaying, authorities said Tuesday.

Scott McAlpin, 24, is charged with murdering 22-year-old Anastasia Melnitchenko of San Francisco, whose body was found in his car trunk Sunday by U.S. Park Police in the Marin Headlands.

McAlpin was on probation stemming from eight felony convictions in two separate cases for stalking, threatening and attacking Melnitchenko on several occasions from 2001 to 2004. Part of his sentence in the most recent case was that he attend a yearlong domestic violence prevention program.

A probation officer, Stacie Gardner, told Superior Court Judge Harold Kahn at a hearing Oct. 19 that McAlpin had been verbally abusive toward her. She wanted him to serve 10 days of work cleaning roadways. Prosecutors wanted him held for additional evaluation...."

see full article for full list of judges that "let him go" with minimal sentencing despite his horrendous track record of stalking and finally murdering his victim.

When will judges understand that these guys need to be locked up for good!

7. A recording of the court
proceeding was played on a local radio station. The judge was really surly and insensitve to this woman. He basically told her that it was her problem-go get a divorce lawyer.
