Why does the RW have a corner on chain email?
We've all seen it...

"Lib'ruls want to take away your right to pray!"

"Lucius Traveler of the ACLU has said that Marines are forbidden from praying!"

"Look at what is happening in Iraq! See what the Lib'rul Media is not telling you!"

And then there is that God awful quiz which tells you that it's OK to racially profile when you are dealing with Arab Muslims.

People pass the Lucius Traveler email around like it's the newest gospel of Jesus and that it really shows what the ACLU is all about.

:eyes:

The only problem though is that there is no Lucius Traveler.

Where does it all start?

Is there some guy who idolizes Richard Viguerie out there and he sits around emailing people these things all day long?

How can we counteract this?

I MUST KNOW!!!!

While I don't think dems would stoop so low, it's a good question to ask -- most people don't realize that they do.

(And that has an effect on snopes.com coverage BTW)

6. Brain washed people can easily send a chain email.
My Reich wing relatives send me this crap and I don't even open it and always break their stupid chain.

7. You don't break their chain. They each send it to all 37 people
in their address book. So if you don't pass it on then only 1332 get the second posting. The only way to stop these friends and (mostly) relatives from sending you the damn things is to send each one that tells you they will pray for you, an exploding chicken with metal giblets for the next holiday.

8. I check them out on Snopes
and they are almost always false. Then I send the Snopes link back to everyone on the email list.

I can't even imagine how many of these chain emails there must be. I have one friend who sends them to me. She lives in central Kansas, in small town fundie central. She knows I will debunk them at every opportunity. And she sends me at least two or three a week.

These RW chain emails must be a cottage industry.
