Trippi - in his own words
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 06:23 PM by nu_duer
Before leaving the campaign, Trippi thanked the staff, telling them how proud he was of their efforts.

"I may be out of the campaign, but I'm not out of the fight," Trippi told The Associated Press moments before leaving the Burlington, Vt. headquarters.

"This is a great campaign to change the country," he said. "I regret anything I may have done to let down the hundreds of thousands of people who support Howard Dean. I hope they will stay with Howard Dean. This campaign can change the country."

1. I am sorry he is leaving
But I understand why he feels he has too. I also understand why there was a need for change.

HERE'S TO JOE TRIPPI! He was a great starter, the best.

8. Perhaps he realizes
that he was just the first to help propel the baton forward in this race. Now the campaign has moved into heavier territory, it is time to bring in some experienced heavy hitters to match the times. Well done for the work so far, and well done for recognizing this is more about the mission than any one particular person's ego trip.

7. Speaks well for both Dean and Trippi
that they can part ways in such a civil manner.

9. Wish we all showed as much class as Trippi around here.
Trippi did amazing work over the last 1+ year. Truly inspiring, visionary, hard damn work.

I salute you Trippi! You made a gracious exit in what could only be a very painful circumstance. :toast:

10. I haven't always agreed with Trippi's approaches...
But there is no denying that he was the major kick in the ass that Dean's campaign needed, and thus the major kick in the ass that this primary needed.

11. No offense, but what else is he going to say?
Burning bridges is often the kiss of death in politics. Trippi isn't going to make remarks that are going to hurt his chances of acquiring employment elsewhere.
