4. Laura Rozen has it
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 11:05 AM by swag
"With Patrick Fitzgerald widely expected to announce indictments in the CIA leaks investigation, questions are again being raised about the murky matter that first led to the appointment of the special counsel: namely, how the Bush White House came into possession of discredited Italian intelligence reports claiming that Iraq sought uranium "yellowcake" from Niger.

The key documents supposedly proving the Iraqi attempt turned out to be crude forgeries on official stationery stolen from the African nation's Rome embassy. Among the most tantalizing aspects of the debate over the Iraq War is the origin of those fake documents and the role of the Italian intelligence services in disseminating them.

In an explosive series of articles appearing this week in the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, investigative reporters Carlo Bonini and Giuseppe d'Avanzo reveal how Niccolo Pollari, chief of Italy's military intelligence service, known as SISMI, brought the Niger yellowcake story directly to the White House after his insistent overtures had been rejected by the Central Intelligence Agency in 2001 and 2002.

Today's exclusive report in La Repubblica reveals that Pollari met secretly in Washington on September 9, 2002, with then–Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley. Their secret meeting came at a critical moment in the White House campaign to convince Congress and the American public that war in Iraq was necessary to prevent Saddam Hussein from developing nuclear weapons.

Check Laura's site at http://www.warandpiece.com for updates. She has collaborated with Marshall on a previous Niger forgery story (the "tectonics plates" one).

23. And isn't Hadley the one who apologized for the 16 words that were
put back into Bush's SOU speech? Sounds like he should be indicted. I wonder if Condi was informed off his secret meeting with Pollari. I'd like to think she was and will go down with the rest. Or, maybe he never told her...but spoon fed the "yellow cake, mushroom clouds images" into her devious little imagination.

25. Clinton's semen on the forgery?
Aren't all the Italian papers run by Smirk's pal Berlusconi? This smells fishy to me. I am guessing that La Republica will find evidence that Clinton is to blame.

5. I hope that it's a revelation of the identity of the
person who forged the documents. If that occurs, and it is someone in our government, you can stick a fork in the Republican Party, it will be done.

"associates of Chalabi." Still could be someone in administration conspiring with Chalabi to get it done. And, don't forget, Chalabi is "buddy, buddy" with Judith Miller.

And, don't forget Ledeen.

8. Jeeze......I hope it's explosive meaning
blow the Bushes attack on Wilson...out of the water and not something bad for us.

Josh has felt that the Italian intelligence community has been covering for the Niger Forgeries. I was just there this a.m. reading Josh's latest so I guess I'll head back over there.

When will 60 Minutes release the report that Josh and Linda Rozen worked so hard on that was axed because of the AWOL story. Hopefully, if this is supporting news....we can see it within a couple of weeks!

in Italy and it has contacts with neocon godfather and Rove buddy Michael Ledeen, and through Ledeen, other prominent neocon criminals. This is BIG, people. The whole plot may blow up - The upshot is that Chimpco obtained or manufactured forged documents used to convince this country to go to war. If Fitz can clearly paint the picture, this is Armageddon for the neocon cabal.

Justin Raimondo and others have reported about these connections.

24. And Leeden was apparantly Rove's ONLY foreign affairs advisor
I'll try to find the link for this. But you can see how the information could flow fairly quickly from shadowy facist Italian sources straight to the President. (kinda scary, isn't it?)

29. P-2?
Propagande Due?

I believe the can of worms that's being opened is really a nest of vipers.

Maybe we'll even get to solving the 1986 assassination of Olaf Palme, in which GHW Bush is said to have been involved. But that's peripheral.

It's hard to understand ... but the references to Condi Rice, Ledeen, and Hadley are interesting.

27. He's Baaacck!
Chalabi's coming back to Washington next week to meet with NSC chief Stephen Hadley & other White House officials. (WHIG officials?) The White House is apparantly planning to back Chalabi for the next Prime Minister of Iraq. (Just - ugh.)
But I wonder if there's another reason why Chalabi's meeting w/Hadley & others right now.
From the post above: "Today's exclusive report in La Repubblica reveals that Pollari met secretly in Washington on September 9, 2002, with then–Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley. (with the forgery)"
MSNBC: Chalabi may be responsible for forgeries.

Hadley's connected to both Chalabi & the Italian forgery and I wonder if part of the reason for the visit is so they can all coordinate how to keep their stories straight. Maybe the White House Iraq Group was even the one who asked for the forgery.

31. CBS story
Maybe if this all blows up, CBS will re-grow their testicles and air the "60 Minutes" story that was yanked in favor of Dan Rather's forged memo story. A hell of a lot more people watch "60 Minutes" than read these blogs.
