2,000 Americans dead in Iraq and your conservative neighbors don't care
- bush lied to get us into war in Iraq and your conservative neighbors don't care
- tom delay is indicted for money laundering to alter the political landscape of Texas and your conservative neighbors don't care
- bill frist made money by insider trading and your conservative neighbors don't care
- rush limbaugh abuses drugs and is accused of doctor shopping and your conservative neighbors don't care
- an incompetent political crony of bush compounds the disaster of an incredible hurricane and your conservative neighbors don't care
- The Clinton surplus is gone and your conservative neighbors don't care

We will soon learn some truth about the inner workings of the bush administration and its efforts to hurt another human being because he told the truth and all of a sudden your conservative neighbors care.

Here is one more thing they can care about; retired veterans are still under oath.

3. Welcome Rising Blue
and thanks for the post which points out that conservatives have to lie about others to make them feel good and to give any sort of significance to their perspective. I would be running away in the polls against that moron who the republicans are backing in New York.

I'm not familiar with Florida geography. Did you fare well during yesterday's hurricane?

Bush is destroying the environment and my conservative neighbors don't care.
The bush administration wants to force democracy down the throats of those in the middle east, whether they want it or not...and my conservative neighbors think that's the right thing to do.

4. They just can't admit they were wrong
If bush's foreign policy was isolationism and he moved to bring all troops home from around the world, they would think that was the right thing to do because that's the guy they voted for. If bush had sex with an intern in the White House that would be okay because that's the guy they voted for.

7. Ya just can't argue with that huh?
And when the number hits 5,000, you'll get the same response. They support the troops by ensuring they stay in Iraq till they get killed.

18. In fantasyland, life doesn't matter
Those soldiers and sailors who've been killed aren't really dead, and if they've been straight with the big Sky Daddy, they're in a far, far better place. La la la la.

(Of course, if they haven't debased themself and kissed the alfrighty's toes, they're in everlasting torment and they deserve it.)

Fundies basically have everything backward: what you can see, feel and sense doesn't matter; only what you can't perceive matters. Anything enjoyable is bad; life must be drab and painful to show god how much you love him. Abusing and killing other people doesn't matter as long as you come clean with god; you don't have to be a decent citizen and make good to your victim. It's crazy and it's tiresome.

You might as well try to teach the flute to a tree stump.

24. OMG YOU ARE SO CORRECT PURITY
I have donated gallons and gallons of blood and am a regular platelet donor............I live simply and donate to many charities.......I've been mailing care packages to the troops in both this war and the last one; often I have sent packages of shoes, toys and clothes and medicine for the children of Iraq and Afghanistan. But according to "them", being a good person SIMPLY DOESN'T MATTER - I AM GOING TO HELL BECAUSE, WELL, I EXACTLY DON'T FOLLOW THE RULE BOOK FOR BEING SAVED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10. Sure would be nice
if true conservatives took back their party. Sure would be nice if we heard them loud and clear. Hopefully they'll get pissed at my defamation AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT.

13. That'll change very quickly when someone they know comes home in a bag.

Makes me sick actually, and I've seen it more than once: They're all gung-ho for Iraq when it's kids from some other state who are dying. But when it's a kid from their neighborhood all of a sudden they're singing a different tune.

Some fucking patriots, huh?

14. Yeah, and the neighbor's kid is outta school, driving aimlessly around
with no particular job prospects and they STILL don't care. While I hate the war, I keep thinking a draft is the only way to get through to far too many people that they need to fuckin pay attention! The hulking lad next door needs to get in touch with reality.

One neighbor is not so keen on this war thing since her son came home horizontal. Several others have kids who were out and called back to active duty. Starting to sink into their skulls, as they have to tend children and pay bills for grown kids who had to leave jobs... jobs which won't be there for them if/when they return. Some are starting to notice the back door draft and are getting cranky about a war without a reason and no stated goals.

But the folks around here with kids in school go on, fretting about this week's football game. The one's with kids just outta high school seem to drink more.

17. How many names can fit onto one stone slab at the Vietnam Memorial?
If it's just a few thousand, that's almost one slab right there. How many more are we aiming for? An entire wall?

19. Yet, Clinton had a brief, sporadic, rather pathetic
"affair" with a young woman and they managed to care so much they impeached him.

They care about what goes on in the bedrooms of strangers as well. They certainly care if the occupents of those bedrooms are two men or two women.

They care about reproductive decisions made by women they don't know and will never meet.

They care about "our troops" - to the extent that they annouce their concern all over the back of their SUVs.

They care about our relationship with the vast Arab world, too - as long as official US policy is something along the lines of "nuke em and steal their oil."

They care about life. Boy, do they make a big stink about that one. Unless, of course, the living include Muslims, minorities, the poor, the homeless, and anyone in prison - particularly anyone on death row. In those cicrumstances they care - not at all.

They care about their tax breaks. They care about their McMansions and Suburbans. They care about their religion - so much that they want every school kid in America to be exposed to it. Now boys and girls, open your science book to page one and follow along, "In the beginning....."

Say what you will....They do, in fact, care.

22. A Funny Joke
I do not know who the guy was, but when I was watching Comedy Central one time he made a funny joke about people with the SUVs and flags on their cars. He said "a person with a flag on an SUV is like a prostitute with a rosary beed."

21. Not only don't care but are quite vocal about it as well
Remember in Front of Camp Casey in Crawford where the Republicans lined up and chanted "We don't Care" "We Don't Care" "We Don't Care" and then want us to believe they are caring people....

23. To the deluded, war is like a teevee movie ........
The 'troops' are but actors, who go to lunch and drink latte at the studio commissary, their bloody make-up ready for the afternoon filming session.

It isn't real. Only the gawd fearing patriotism and talk of high tech weapons inspire, not the 'troop' as a person. It is far too easy for them to see it this way thanks to the ban on showing the caskets or seeing the real blood and gore. Where are the Viet Nam style pictures that show the splintered bone protruding from a fleshy stump that was once a leg? Where are the pictures of the faces half missing from a fatal shrapnel hit?

I am not one who wants to see these images, but I **am** one who thinks they need to be seen.

War is very real. Its consequences are both impersonally geopolitical and intensely personal.

America, as populated by the cheering masses, need to KNOW this isn't Monday Night Football or a NASCAR race where everyone walks away when it over.
