Harriet Miers deserves to be heard ?
Do you agree or disagree? This is a test of your political savvy. Do you think we should withhold judgement on Harriet Miers until after she goes before the committee or do you agree with a lot of conservatives that Bush should withdraw her name? Which would be more politically advantageous for Democrats?

1. The rightwing is going bonkers, terrified of her at the hearings
They know she is nothing but an idiot of the great idiot in the White House.

Let's have the hearings, and then vote this dog down!

2. She should go before the committee
and be heard. It will show how unqualified she is and will be a poor reflection on Bush. In fact it will be a total embarrassment.

not rubber stamp her just because the path of least resistance is easiest.

3. I think there is a bottom line ....
One that EVERY citizen, regardless of party, want to see in a SCOTUS nominee .... Miers falls far short, whatever the party affiliation ....

I dont care if the RW dont like her: she is awful in EVERY regard, beginning with her lack of knowledge in constitutional law ....

4. I think the hearings should be held.
She will either sink or swim; and I fully expect to see her sink like a stone -- so much the better for our side. I'll turn on my teevee and

12. A lot of cabinet nominees "sunk like stones" at hearings, and still won.
Condi was disastrous. So was Bolton.

And if we're talking about Judicial Nominees, I seem to recall some "knockin' under the hood" there...yet he passed somehow, despite all those hairs on Coke cans.

15. True. But in this case, she's going into the hearings under a cloud,
and it's not just the Left that expects her to bomb.

5. Looks to me
like Dear Leader with Harriet is down to the same line Nixon defended Harold Carswell with-the mediocre need representation, too.

6. I think she should be heard. If she screws up as reports have
been indicating, then it's helpful to the DEMS as well as all citizens of this country. The truth needs to come out and letting her tell her story in public will help to get it out. You can be sure every word, every idea will be fully investigated by the press, by the bloggers, by those who oppose her and by those who just want to inform themselves.

As Martha would say: It's a good thing.

8. I want her to appear and testify. This can only get BETTER.
You can't suddenly learn 40 years of constitutional law in a few weeks, and she doesn't seem all that swift to begin with.

She's never been recognized as a legal mind.

19. Put a little TV in the bathroom!
:spank:

Watching her get raked over the coals will be as satisfying as seeing Idiot King sweat and squirm through the debates.

10. She should be heard. I'll bring popcorn, someone else bring the beer.
Should be a good comedy.

Here's the thing. The majority of Americans wouldn't understand a damn thing she said or a damn thing they asked her about. They'd only go by how the media spun it, and the media would spin it depending on their mood and whatever Rove has threatened them with. They'd ignore whichever side they didn't agree with.

I think if she goes to committee, it's a mockery of the system that she gets treated as a legitimate candidate. But, every single thing Bush has done has been parody.

16. Of course 'we need to hear her out' ........
I want her on record, on camera, for all the world to see. She is a lightweight and a kook. Let everyone see what idiot son has done in appointing her.

After the Brownie fiasco, Meirs in a confirmation hearing would definitely be a good thing for our side.

17. If nothing else it will show what
bad judgment bush has. Any repuke that votes for her will have a problem. I must say thank god for blogs and DU and other websites. The msm is now forced to at least be reasonable with the truth. Can't lie and cover up like they have been.

21. Use the rightwinger's OWN message against them!
"Up or down vote!"

Seeing her getting outright REJECTED is worse than "quietly" withdrawing her name.
