Did Bush really refuse to take a drug test?
A friend of mine said she was told that Bush had refused to take a drug test. I had not heard that and wondered what you guys knew about it.

1. I think it was more "he avoided a drug test"
Same end result.

2. He refused to take a physical...
A drug test was part of that physical. This resulted in him being grounded when he was a pilot in the Texis Air National Guard.

5. Him and James R. Bath..
...drinking buddy and probable blade-and-mirror-mate.

Both grounded the same day.

3. He had both written and verbal orders to show up for his flight ....
.... physical on 4/15/72 or 5/15/72 and on the 14th he drove himself to Alabama to
join the guard there ..... nobody remembers seeing him on base in Alabama.

A junior officer transfered himself?

4. He skipped a physical exam which includes looking up the nostrils
for signs of cocaine use. The nostrils don't lie, they don't lie, they don't lie--cocaine.

6. So all of this stuff is fairly old?
The version she heard was that he refused to take a drug test since he has been President. I couldn't find anything on it, so was thinking it might not be a thing.

7. Known *before* the 2004 election..
Known *before* the 2000 election..

And the physical was one that would have, for the first time, required a drugs test.

8. W's record

from skeleton closet

To put it in perspective, here are 9 ways Bush got favored treatment in the service due to his political connections (he was then son of a Congressman and grandson of a former Senator):
1) He got into the Guard by pulling strings, avoiding the year and a half waiting list;
2) He took a 2-month vacation in Florida after just 8 weeks, (1 of 3 leaves), to work on a political campaign;
3) Bush skipped Officer Candidate School and got a special commission as a 2nd Lieutenant, without qualifications;
4) He was assigned to a safe plane (being phased out of active service), the F-102 ;
5) During flight school, he was flown on a government jet to Washington for a date with President Nixon's daughter Tricia ;
6) Bush got an illegal transfer (later overruled) to a base with no work;
7) He simply didn't show up for a YEAR, with no penalty;
8) George W. skipped all his medical exams after they started drug tests, and was removed from flight status;
9) He ended his service 10 months early to go to Harvard Business School;

10. bush deserted his military unit to avoid a drug test
So, those fine americans at free republic can say he didn't "refuse" a drug test. The man is garbage. I spent 24 years in uniform. I know the obligations of reservists and guardsman. Bottom line - george bush is garbage and those who support him are either extremely ignorant or hate the constitution; either way bush supporters are garbage as well. Do something good for your country, set bush supporters out at the curb to be picked up by those who pick up garbage.
