How on earth can Bush still have supporters?
Honestly, I can`t understand how 4 out of 10 citizens still support George W. Bush. These are the folks who started frothing at the mouth at the first hint of Clinton`s sexual affair. Aren`t they a wee bit upset over the torture photos? The lies about WMDs? The taxpayer-funded propaganda? The body bags piling up on the tarmac? Their jobs moved to India? On and on ad nauseam....

America`s extreme makeover, instigated by neo fascists and supported by power-hungry corporate cronies and dangerous members of the House and Senate, is enough to sound a nationwide alarm. There`s not enough time to worry about Minutemen here in Vermont or taser gun deaths or new bankruptcy laws or Big Brother checking out library records. It`s heart wrenching enough just to visit an Iraq War casualty site each day or try to pay for a fuel delivery. I don`t even recognize my own country anymore.

It`s almost as though Bush supporters, watching 50,000 acres of land burning in their neighborhood, would not only accept an administration spokeperson`s announcement...."All fires are out" but would call ten close friends to report the good news. Sort of like bragging about our "winning the war on terrorism" as 40-plus soldiers are silenced by their October deaths. Forget the civilian casualties. We don`t have to count them because....well....they just don`t count.

I`m not too impressed by the handful of Republicans who have started questioning some Bush decisions. For every one of them there are plenty of people who jump at the chance to link Iraq with 9/11 or who cheer over the thought of shipping poor people out of New Orleans and replacing them with casinos. Things seem really screwed up to me, but what do I know? I`m just a liberal.

3. I think the only way they would turn on him
is if he declared in a TV press conference that he:

(1) gay

and/or

(2) giving away money to France

and/or

(3) had sex with a Clinton

12. nope...
if he was...

gay - they'd blame it on the homosexuals.

giving away money to france - they'd blame it on the democrat minority.

had sex with a Clinton - blame it on Clinton.

Do you really think they'd blame anything on Bush????

4. Many people apparently don't think
and don't want to think critically. They simply parrot what they hear someone they see as being in authority says. I think there is also a bit of inherent racism and intolerance in their viewpoint. Some that I have met have said some very outrageous and very wrong things. I find I usually lack courage to say anything to them because they appear to be very ready to cause physical harm to anyone who would challenge the illusion in which they live.

16. yeah, it amazes me when
people who are normally "don't touch mu hugh stack of money!!1!" still somehow defend this guy, even when he is wasting their money on paid propaganda, the war, and over-priced no bid contracts.

I don't get it. The only answer I ever hear (if at all) is "at least he's not Clinton!" or something similar.

9. I am always amazed at the number of Republican
senators, representatives, pundits, morons who come out publicly on TV and in the papers about what a great president we have. Can't they see the leak in the boat? Do they want to go down also? A tsunami is headed their way and they are either too dumb or too brain-dead to see it coming. Good post.

conservative, christian and card carrying Rethugs hate libruls...we are their enemy. They see our policies and vision for America as damaging as we see theirs.

With these people it is no longer country above all else, it's party.

11. Welcome to the world of hypocrites
DailyKos has had two long threads about the hypocrites in the Washington press corps. These people were so taken back by the so called Clinton scandals. Now, you have putative liberal columnist Richard Cohen wanting Fitzgerald just to go home, as if nothing has happened. Tweety, Fat Tim, the Dean: David Broder, lead us to believe the Constitution was in danger when Clinton was in office, now are silent.
I'm not too surprised at most of chimpie's repuke supporters. They are dumber than a bag of rocks, anyway. What I do love is the world getting to see the hypocrisy of the beltway whores. At long last, the world gets to see the other side of these one eyes jacks.

13. I'm glad I live in Vermont too
The NEast in general is becoming the last bastion of free thinking. I also feel the "tide is turning" and having those 40% being marginalized and ostracized won't bother me a bit.

15. that percentage is reversed in my
immediate famly - out of 16, 12 R kool-aid drinking, Clinton loathing, chimp worshiping, anyone w/ an (R) voting, anyone not like me hating small minded people. Out of the 12 - 3 have been through drug rehab, 1 has 2 children w/o the benefit of a stable partner, 3 R in public education, 2 R in health care and 2 are union members. All I can do is shake my head and talk about the weather w/ them.

18. An excellent question
It's also unfortunately more evidence for people in foreign countries that the US electorate (a fair portion of it) is out of touch with reality. Bush could nuke a US city and he'd still have millions of wingnuts supporting his action.
