I think we should sue Shrub for using our tax dollars to wage

an illegal and immoral war. Willfully deceiving the American people. I think it's worth consideration. The detainees at Gitmo have the right idea, IMO.

The article above outlines the detainees premise for suing the President.

This "snip" below is what I read at What Really Happened underneath the above link.

<snip>
I think all of us should sue the President for lying us into a war. And we should sue for recovery of our tax money spent on this fraudulent war, PLUS DAMAGES.

The case is a simple one. The Constitution does not authorize the government to lie to the people and the Tenth Amendment prohibits the government from simply assuming that right. When the President lied to the people, he ceased acting as the President and acted as a private citizen with private motives. When Bush lied to the Congress, he invalidated the authorization for the use of force in Iraq. So the war is illegal by any interpretation of the law.

Our tax money and the lives of our loved ones were stolen from us through fraud and deceit, with malice aforethought. The laws prohibiting suing the government are only applicable when the government operates within the bounds of the Constitution and the limits of the law. Therefore, Bush and all his Neocon associates who created this war out of thin air are personally liable for the billions of dollars and thousands of deaths that resulted from their lies.

I demand justice on behalf of 288 million Americans. I demand checks to every American refunding the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, plus the cost of the war materials paid for in the years leading up to those wars and used up in the conflicts. I demand additional financial compensation for the families of every service person wrongfully sent to their deaths in these wars based on lies. And I demand punitive damages to send a message to future governments that the days when a people could be lied into a war with impunity are gone forever.

If this is a nation of laws and not of powerful men, now is the time, maybe even the final chance, for the courts to prove it.
<snip>

Why the hell not? It sounds reasonable to me. What's everyones take on this?

Peace.B-)

1. You know what really pisses me off about the rat bastard?
He NEVER seems to spend his OWN $ on ANYTHING! He always finds a way to use EVERYONE elses! He's a lousy, two-bit crook. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree...

Peace.

3. Can't be done.
Or, at least there's no precedent for it. Generally, government executives, legislators, and judges are immune from civil suits for acts taken within their official capacity. The President is Commander in Chief of the armed forces. When he uses them, he is immune from civil liability because it's part of his job to use the military. Clinton was sued because harassing Paula Jones was not within his official capacity as Governor of Arkansas (not to say that he did it--just that he wouldn't be immune from suit if he did do it).

No, impeachment is about the only way to hold * accountable.
