Absence of the American Dems Opinion Internationally

Not only are the Republicans dominant in our local media, they seem to be the only Americans present in foreign discussion forums similar to DU.


For example here at a M.E. Political discussion forum www.omanforum.com, the main representative of American opinion is an Indian (Dark Angel) who has joined the US Military and is training to join the combat zone in Iraq. And an extreme Right Wing NeoCon (Jihad4Peace).

The impression they give of Americans in this forum, with mainly Arab Members, is extremely negative.


Why is the moderate Democratic opinion absent from International forums frequented by mainly Arabs, for example? Shouldn't we be doing more to show the rest of the world that an opposing opinion to the current Fascist Bush Admin still exists in America?

Lonely Planet and BBCAmerica, although a few more left of center types have joined the fray on BBCAmerica.

Lonely Planet's "Talk Politics" forum, is a great negative example of an unmoderated political discussion board that allows righties to debate lefties (something that people occasionally propose for DU, but which the Admins have thankfully vetoed). The righties dominate through their sheer missionary zeal and obnoxiousness, and they seem downright gleeful about being as offensive as possible.

It all come down to being as offensive as possible so as not to have a discussion on the issues. Even if the forum is moderated like www..com they work around the rules to cause as much disruption as possible.

Questioning the source is typical of these righties, I sometimes see that here at DU.
Discussing members opinions and not the issues at hand.


I'm glad DU doesn't allow right-left debates, because their sole intention will be to tear down DU. They generally behave like a bunch of Parrots mimicking everything that was previously puked out of Bushs anal. You surely can't have a debate with a Zombie!!!


Is the US Government actually providing secret funding for these missionary zealots and obnoxiousness individuals to visit foreign web-sites and forums to spew their hatred and tow the Official Admin line??
