Bush Stays in Luxury New Orleans Hotel… While Many Still Suffer
Bush Stays in Luxury New Orleans Hotel… While Many Still Suffer
October 10th, 2005

Well ain’t this something… thousands of people are homeless from Hurricane Katrina, the Davis-Bacon Act has been rescinded to allow Haliburton to make a few extra billion, while rebuilding New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, FEMA still can’t get their act together to provide housing for the homeless and George W. Bush, “dines at a French Quarter restaurant before spending the night in a famed luxury hotel.”

2. Jesus, he really IS tone deaf, isn't he?
He would have been better off hauling ass to Crawford, and coming back the next day. Is this why they were beating up crippled old men on the streets the other day? Clearing out suspicious characters in honor of the pretzel's visit??

7. Yeah, I am starting to believe that some intern is making these decisions
He keeps dragging his ass to the Gulf, spending a bundle on gas and aircraft and hauling his staff, vehicles, air support and so on around, and what kind of press is he getting? NONE. Everyone's focused on PLAMEGATE, and eating in the French Quarter ain't gonna distract them from that juicy tale...

It ain't working, Porgie--no one buys your scripted bullshit anymore!

8. ...I just don't even know what they're thinking anymore...
I thought I understood how THEY thought they'd make the media spin work for them. I thought the traditional way was, he'd go down there and, y'know, "clear some brush" and make it look good.

But for him to go there and be very ostentatiously photographed eating in a nice restaurant and bragging about how he sleeps in a luxury hotel, while there are still bodies unrecovered after over a month, that family members are still coming home to find...

I don't even comprehend how they think there's good PR to be had out of this. Are there Bush followers so depraved they'll applaud this? I guess there are.

I have no words.
