Joe Lieberman - "I am the one mainstream candidate in this race,"
http://www.dhonline.com/articles/2004/01/28/ap/Headlines/d80brrg81.txt

Joe Lieberman believes that "I am the one mainstream candidate in this race" .
That is perhaps the most profoundly sad statement I have heard in a very long time. It's very sad if that's what Joe truly believes.

13. That's for sure!
And I find that almost more disgusting and infuriating than repukes themselves! And he apparently thinks that the main problem facing us is video games like Grand Theft Auto, for God's sake! Honest to Christ, what fucking planet does he live on where he thinks that's actually an issue of concern to the millions of us facing unemployment, financial and health care and educational and economic and employment crises, etc., etc. !

5. Here's the thing about Lieberman.
He isn't a Republican - he's a Democrat. He has worked himself into the belief that it is "his turn" - sort of like Bob Dole, a while back, on the other side. He has mis-read his own party and, by the turn out in Iowa and NH, he has mis-read the public at large. I think he truly believes that the Rape of Iraq is a good thing, but almost all of his other "ideas" are just flat, oldhat, and out of step. It is too bad, and really sad, that someone doesn't take him aside and tell him that it's over. His mom said that "she didn't get it", well, ma'am, your son doesn't either.

6. Poor Joe. I really do feel kind of sorry for him.
I think he is a good guy. I think he does what he thinks is right. Unfortunately his convictions just aren't on target with the democrats this time around.

I am finding it hard to criticize a man who is so stinking desperate right now. He deserves to leave his exceptional career in tact.

8. I have very little sympathy for Joe
all he has shown us is arrogance and folly. He advocates Republican positions and shoots down others who advocate core-Democratic values. He has no one to blame for his current position but himself.

7. You're right Joe....You are in the mainstream but......
most people see the huge waterfall just ahead. They are not riding in that boat this time around. That is passe.

12. Mainstream - or, BS as usual - is a big negative this year.
Lieberman doesn't get it - which just proves how out of touch he is with both the party and the electorate.

10. No sympathy here
Joe is doing more harm than good. By calling himself "mainstream" he is repeating the rw meme that the rest of the pack, and the eventual nominee, are dreaded "liberals." Thanks Joe (middle finger up)

11. McAuliffe needs to tell Lieberman
to get the hell out of this. He doesn't have a chance in hell to win. He needs to hang it up! :grr: Come on, Terry! Get him the hell out of this race!

I just wrote McAuliffe and said the same thing to him...you may wish to email him too. :)

16. He also said "the republicans said you should vote for me"
Paraphrasing, of course, but he said these weird things about how the Republicans say I am the strongest candidate." Strange.

17. Against Bush,
Lieberman is my next to last choice.

However, it is quite sickening to see so many truly vitriolic threads put up about Lieberman.

I wonder why DUers feel the need to do this unnecessary business.

22. Because he is doing the Democratic Party considerable damage
while adding respectability to a corrupt Republican regime. He's also a very negative campaigner.

so I'll just say that I agree with the original poster's opinion.
