5. They must be talking about the CBS/NYTimes poll. 37 percent
Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 03:08 PM by calimary
approval overall. Hugely lopsided figure for the "country's gone off on the wrong track" question. It was 69 percent - rawther resounding. They said it was the highest since they started asking that question, 22 years ago.

Yeah, here it is:

6. Odd that at various points in his presidency GWB has now been...
The most popular and most unpopular president since the dawn of the polling era.

22. He tapped

and has been burning up all the political 'capital' his Party had accumulated for 30some years.

God, it amounted to ridiculous, indefensible, amounts of goodwill and fanatical True Believerdom given his bunch for a while there. Utter insanity.

But Bush has been all user and unable to add back any significant amount of this 'capital', plus the burn rate has been spectacular. This incarnation of the Republican Party is losing 1% of the electorate- 1.2 million voters- a month permanently. It's been kind of morbid, watching-the-Red-Baron-going-down-burning-in-a-death-spiral, fun since he went under 50%.

Around the 30% mark the utter implosion and disintegration of The Party Nixon Built becomes inevitable. Which should be reached in less than a year from now. Buy champagne now....

13. Am I reading this correctly? 84% of Dems disapprove of Bush.
What the fuck are the other 16% smoking?

17. I have a theory about the 16%.
They are either incredibly stupid Republicans who bubbled in the D by mistake on their voter registration form, or they are Zell Miller democrats.

19. You're probably right.
You know, I voted for Zell when he ran for Governor here in GA. He was, compared to that sack of shit that we have now (Sonny Perdue), not a bad Governor. He was no Jimmy Carter of course, but he wasn't bad.

24. No worries. I did too.
I'm a Georgia native and remember voting for Zell at some point. Somehow he didn't seem that batshit crazy then.

the base ... to shore them up. Cause that is how they bond.

29. I agree, we're at basement level
Or extremely close. The GOP base is sufficient number and with tunnel vision denial this number just can't go much lower, minus an overwhelming, media-emcompassing scandal that makes respondents embarrassed to label themselves Republican.
