Taft (R-OH Gov): 'I don't govern based on polls'
Seems like this criminal got Rove's memo:

Taft: 'I don't govern based on polls'

No word on Dominion project, says governor
By MARK TODD

Staff Writer

MONROE TOWNSHIP - A happy event in Monroe Township brought Gov. Bob Taft no relief from questions about his plummeting approval rating among Ohio voters.

Taft came to the area Thursday morning for a ceremony to designate Conneaut Creek a wild and scenic river. Afterwards, he met with media, and one of the first questions dealt with the 15 percent approval rating among Ohioans - believed to be a record low for a Buckeye governor.

Asked if the approval rate could somehow cloud the wild river program, Taft’s many clean-water initiatives and his environmental legacy, he replied "That’s what the pundits will decide."

1. When people say they don't pay attention to polls...
You can bet anything that their poll numbers are in the tank.

2. Why should he? In Ohio they don't even get elected based on elections
At least not fair ones.

5. At 15% you can't govern
He's just a figurehead and a seat warmer for the next Democratic governor.

10. Actually he can
because in Ohio Republicans control all three branches of government. So even if he's incredibly unpopular, he can still do whatever he and his fellow R's wish - no one can stop them.

6. At the rate he's going it soon will be "I don't govern, PERIOD."
Maybe they're keeping him around to make bush's numbers look good. Which they actually do, by comparison.

8. The major issue with Taft...
is he does not know how to govern in the first place.

13. That's pretty funny
because it's exactly what our governor Frank Murkowski, the SECOND least popular governor, says too.
