Refresh my memory - who said the following?
The morning of the 9-11 attack two NYC officials hurried toward the WTC site. One allegedly said to the other "Thank God George Bush is our president". I think it was Bernard Kerik and Rudolph Guiliani, but I can't remember for sure.

I always remember that statement as being one of the phoniest things I've ever heard. Who said it?

1. Giuliani
Giuliani SUPPOSEDLY said it to Kerik, but the first mention of it I think was at the convention, which makes it suspect.

4. Thanks. It's the most stupid thing I can imagine, under the circumstances

But it fits the Guiliani mold, I guess.

5. Yeah, I never bought that either.
Rudy might have drank the Kool Aid in time for the convention (as McCain and others clearly have), but at the time, he was probably thinking....

"Oh SHIT, that moron's President??" and for 2 days after, "Where the fuck is that dumb assed monkey lookin son of a bitch??"

7. Funny he didn't say it in front of the camera ON 9/11
while the reporters kept asking if he'd heard from pResident Fucko and he had to admit over and over he couldn't get in touch with the incompetent, corrupt drunk...who was too busy running to hide in Nebraska in panic at the time...

Rudy didn't actually speak to Fucko until about 9 0'clock...and then it was only because Rudy called HIM, not the other way round.

8. "...Without really thinking, spontaneous, I grabbed the arm of
then-Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik and I said to him, 'Bernie, thank God George Bush is our president.' And I say it again tonight."

--I just copied/pasted that from a USA Today story from the convention. I love that intro of "without thinking" and "spontaneous" to prove to the listeners that Guliani wasn't making it up. It sounded phony then, still vomit-inducing now. As if the first thing out of your mouth in confronting the horror of that day would be who the hell the president is! Not to mention, at that very instant this paragon of presidential virtue was being flown around the country till they could make him presentable to face the public!! I can't believe ANYBODY found that supposed quote of Guliani's remotely believable.
