Did anyone watch Mayday on CBS tonight?

It was a good show highlighting the fight between the American citizen and gung ho military officials and insurance officials who tried to shoot down a commercial flight rather than accept blame and pay for the injured when an experimental military drone went out of control. The military wanted to hide the incident for embarrassment purposes while the insurance industry hoped for cheap death claims vs. extensive long term medical bills. Bush's America.

1. Only saw the last part. Couldn't give up my Desperate Housewives!

Looked like it was a good movie though.

3. I flipped back and forth watching CNN.From what I saw , it looked

okay.I think I was turned off by that one actor who looks too much like Scott Peterson? The one who killed his wife? Anyway, I don't know what the actors name is who played him, but he was in that movie too.I can't watch him without thinking about it.

was the military guy who urged the plane to be shot down until the restrained black admiral shut him down. Kind of like a Powell who should have spoken up rather than gave in to W's political forces. You know, all those mobile chemical labs in Iraq.

6. That movie was so bad that I e-mailed CBS

And I don't often do stuff like that. (Well, unless you count DUing polls.) I told them it was "Airport 1975" without the mid-air pilot transfer. Utterly inane and, worse, predictable.

I only watched because I have a need to pick such movies apart so I can feel superior. :silly:

10. Yeah, that wasn't the part I took issue with

Just that it was a badly written, predictable movie.

Like serryjw says, I'd like to see a Part Two, focusing on what happened to the Navy and the airline for trying to snuff the whole thing. (I put that in my e-mail to CBS, too.)

O' course, it's fictional "entertainment," but it'd still be nice to see the teevee folk take a stand on something when they have the chance, instead of showing us how an amateur pilot can land a disabled SST with no help from the people on the ground.

11. I wish I had watched too! But anyone who defends the American

management, has no clue who is running this country. They care about money and money only, and then a great majority of them actually claim to be Christian. This country was great until Reagan, who I uninformatively voted for became president. It has been down hill since then.

We went from Robin Hood who stole from the rich to feed the poor, to Hood Robin, who steals from the poor to feed their ego and nest eggs.

This great experiment has been tainted, and sadly so, by the very people, Europe tried to rid themselves of, the Robber Barons.

As a Christian, I know, their eternal punishment, but they unfortunately don't. I just wish I had the power to put the contents of Pandora's box, back in the box!

12. I thought it was a good nail-biter...

but not really plausible. It showed how the military covers things up to save their own butts and how unscrupulous insurance companies can be.

The hero was Aiden Quinn (pant, pant) a good Irish fellow who heroically saved the day by landing the limping airliner with some injured passengers hanging on to life by a thread and proof of the misdeeds of the insurance company who tried to cause them to crash to avoid paying any claims.

Gail O'Grady played the part of the insurance representative who cared more about $$$ than the lives of people.

Dean Cain was the heartless Naval officer who wanted the plane to be shot down so there would be no witnesses to his military blunder.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that it really could happen after all.
