Should Dems kick Tom DeLay while he is down?
Edited on Sat Oct-01-05 10:26 PM by gulliver
I mean, come on. Hasn't Tom DeLay suffered enough?

I say Dems are above kicking the poor man while he is down. Just because he has been indicted and it has never happened to any Congressman that high up before doesn't mean we need to make a big deal of it. If DeLay wants to go on the air and say that the whole thing is politically motivated, just let him. If DeLay wants to say Nancy Pelosi conspired with the Texas prosecutor, Ms. Pelosi should not dignify it with a response.

They may call Tom DeLay the hammer, but isn't he human too? I'm sure his wife loves him. Shouldn't we go easy on him for the sake of his family?

There is no need to punish poor Tom DeLay politically. He's already embarrassed. Dem leaders shouldn't go on the air and say that not only is Tom DeLay corrupt but that he is nuts too. They shouldn't be rubbing his face in his three Congressional ethics censures. And if Tom DeLay wants to quietly pull strings, effectively staying the GOP Majority Leader in all but title, the Dems should just let it slide.

I know the Dem leaders will do just that. They have a sense of fair play, just like Tom DeLay.

Psych.

4. Yes. He should be pummelled and pounded relentlessly.
Every time he so much as twitches, he should be stomped again. And we should cheer as it happens.

6. Do you remember what happened with the Texas Democrats?
Edited on Sat Oct-01-05 10:34 PM by lcordero2
The Dems should start comparing him to Gingrich. The Dems need to think about undoing all of the damage that DeLay has done in the last 5 years...and they can do so by supporting somebody in hopes of winning DeLay's congressional seat.

I rather bury an enemy and know that he is dead than have him around to be able to kill me someday. This is about my survival and the survival of generations to follow.

This criminal deserves any merciless treatment that can be brought to bear against him.

I mean, it's not like his criminal cronies are going to allow a fair trial to take him down of anything like that.

He sure looks like a Private Pyle to me.

Probably the first Majority Leader to ever appear on that program.

Tommy Boy has created a record that will be hard to top, but Blunt will no doubt give it the ol' Republican try.

24. Hmmm. Gee I don't know, let's ask his former Press Secretary,
Michael Scanlon, associate of Abramoff and a target of the current Justice Department probe.

"This whole thing about not kicking someone when they are down is bullshit. Not only do you kick him - you kick him until he passes out - then beat him over the head with a baseball bat - then roll him up in an old rug - and throw him off a cliff into the pounding surf below!!!"

--Michael Scanlon, (former)Press Secretary to Tom DeLay, in a 1998 memo from the impeachment "war room".

34.  DeLay is the poster boy for the "Culture of Corruption"
Edited on Sun Oct-02-05 11:45 AM by ultraist
IMO, "Culture of Corruption" is the perfect way to define the Repuke party. C of C can be used as a springboard to offer solutions and a real plan to move our country forward (ie define our party and articulate our core values).

It's due time the Dems start taking the offensive. Define the Repuke party and define our party. As Dean said, it's up to the Dems to frame the issues. We cannot continue to let the Repukes create the dialog and the agenda and remain on the defensive.

That was there role as an opposition party. The fact that they will probably not kick him even after he is down shows how pathetic they are and continue to be.

40. It's our obligation to keep kicking him until...
he screams uncle and comes clean. Ain't gonna happen, so put on your boots.

I'm going to wear my pair of army boots that were issued to this dumb draftee at the same time that DeLay tried to volunteer for service in Vietnam, but according to him, so many minority youth had volunteered for "well-paying" military positions to escape poverty there was no room for "patriots" like himself!

I think I have earned the right to be bumped to the front of the line for first licks kicks.
