Have you emailed all your friends to tell them to email the EAC re. paper
ballots??????????????????

Here's the email I sent to votingsystemguidelines@eac.gov
Click on the links below to get more information.

======================================================================

Hello,

I have followed this issue for at least a couple years, sat in on public meetings held by MN SOS Mary Kiffmeyer when I lived in MN (and have traded some emails since then), traveled to Washington to attend an EAC meeting in the fall of 2003 (I think, maybe it was '04), and lobbied my representative and my family and friends to support HR 2239 and now its successor HR 550.

Please be on notice that you shall be derelict in your duty as a patriot and guardian of our democracy should you recommend passage of HR 550 without modification.

I want Section 6.8 to require a voter-verified paper ballot for ALL voters and voting systems. It should be mandatory.

Thank you for your attention.

=================================================================

NOW IS THE TIME!!! You can help ensure that every American vote will be counted in the 2008 election and beyond. How?

Insist on voter-verified paper records for all voting systems.

You have one day left to speak up: the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) closes the public comment period on their proposed Voluntary Voting System Guidelines at 5 p.m. this Friday, September 30, 2005.

Please visit the VerifiedVoting.org Action Center at http://www.demaction.org/dia/organizations/vevo/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=1031
to ask for voter-verified paper records.

We also provided other sample comments you can include. Your comments don't need to be extensive/technical. Experts are submitting detailed comments, but everyone has the right to say what we expect in our voting systems.

We've learned that governments around the world are looking at these public comments, to see what YOU think. Once you take action, you'll be able to spread the word to others too.

This chance expires tomorrow, so...

Take Action Today! Speak out at http://www.demaction.org/dia/organizations/vevo/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=1301

For fair elections,

1. Hey, I'm calling my SOS tomorrow about printers with our Diebold
I live in MS and our democratic SOS got us Diebold machines, they are suppose to have printers but I'm not sure if they have been bought yet unlike the machines themsleves.

I also have a few hundred signatures that I have been meaning to mail to verified voting. Once completely full, I'll be sending them.

I already e-mailed votingsystemguidelines and I was just wondering if you knew anything about the status of the Diebold machines in MS.

3. No, I don't know about the Diebold situation in MS
Please encourage your SOS to just get rid of the machines.

Paper ballots, baby.

2. Thanks for your good intentions, gristy, but you're mixing EAC with HR 550
There's no connection whatsoever. The EAC has no role or influence in legislation. They will only accept comments on their proposed technical guidelines. By conflating the two elements, you're risking having your comment tossed out, which would be a shame.
