Dean: “Tom DeLay is neither the beginning nor the end.."
..."of the Washington Republicans' ethical problems. America can do better than leaders who use their power to promote their own personal interests instead of the interests of the American people who elected them. We simply must change the way business is done in Washington."

DNC Chairman Dean on DeLay Indictment
September 28, 2005

Washington, DC - Today, a Texas grand jury returned a criminal indictment against House GOP Leader Tom DeLay on a charge of conspiracy. Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement, saying DeLay's indictment is symptomatic of the Republicans' culture of corruption in Washington, DC:

"Today, the state of Texas is doing what the Republican-controlled federal government has failed repeatedly to do, which is hold Republicans in Washington accountable for their culture of corruption. This alleged illegal activity reaches to the highest levels of the Republican Party.

"With House Republican Leader Tom DeLay under criminal indictment, Senate Republican Leader Frist facing SEC and Department of Justice investigations, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove under investigation, the Republican leadership in Washington is now spending more time answering questions about ethical misconduct than doing the people's business."

“Tom DeLay is neither the beginning nor the end of the Washington Republicans' ethical problems. America can do better than leaders who use their power to promote their own personal interests instead of the interests of the American people who elected them. We simply must change the way business is done in Washington."

19. And it is about time, too!
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 04:20 PM by Carla in Ca
We have been so busy deflecting their lies at us, and rightly so, most of the time, that we are forgetting how to fight back. We need to fight back, we just don't have to stoop to their level to do it.
Call it talking points or what ever you want, but it is time to fight.

The first, and we have already started, is proof that the Texas Prosecutor who indicted DeLay is NOT partisan. Keep it going!

My favorite action is to post up-side-down photos of all ethically challenged repugs. I'll start. (Courtesy of Americablog)

And, welcome to DU!
:)

6. Yes, yes, yes!
Get out there early and often! I saw Pelosi's statement about the Culture of Corruption (catchy phrase), and now Dean echoing the phrase.

Let's take this whole corrupt regime down.

7. Howard started using the phrase months ago
I first heard it when he spoke @ the CA Dem Convention in April. Pelosi has picked it up and is using it. We need other dems 2 do so. 2 people do not an echo chmber make.

10. Yeah, I was just going to say that xxqqqzme.
That was my point about him being ahead of the curve, on just about everything. He said DeLay should be in jail; He said we shouldn't go to war in Iraq, etc.

9. Culture of Corruption! Culture of Corruption!
Let this be the first of many coordinated talking point assaults. Is the Democratic Party finally getting a clue? When will Senator Reid say it? And the rest: Kerry, Kennedy, Boxer, Conyers - let's run with it folks!

18. The DNC statement earlier this week about Frist used the term
"Republican Leader Bill Frist's desperate attempt to quell the fall-out from the growing ethical scandal that has engulfed his office raised more questions than answers. It's time for Republican Leader Frist to stop stonewalling and answer the legitimate questions raised by his ethically-questionable, multi-million dollar stock transaction. With Karl Rove, Tom DeLay and now Bill First all under investigation, the Republicans' culture of corruption is alive and well in Washington, DC."
