I don't get the joke, and I feel I'm not alone! Someone fill me in!

5. you know how during every election - there will be a single news item

about some schmoe noone has ever heard of who is campaigning for presdient - they are in new hampshire (or somewhere) going door to door, and essentially being ignored by everyone... well there you go these folks are running for president... (just think of the 129th vote getter in California's recall election... sort of the same thing.)
