I know a few of them, and some oceanographers and marine biologists, and they're all like that all the time.

They're wired very differently from the rest of us. They are so into what they do, very often their personal lives are totally messed up. I know one man who forgot his wife was flying home from Europe once, and didn't even show up at the airport to meet her. She had been gone for three months. He was busy at work.
