Cuba offers 1100 doctors to Hurricane Katrina victims
Cuban President Fidel Castro has announced that 100 doctors are ready to leave early Saturday morning to Houston, Texas to assist the victims of devastating Hurricane Katrina.

A second group of 500 Cuban doctors are also ready to depart to the US on Saturday afternoon and a third of 500 specialists Sunday morning with 24 kilograms each of medication and the necessary resources to assist emergency situations.

The 1100 medical specialists have international experience and knowledge of Basic English to assist the patients that have been seriously affected by the powerful hurricane, said the Cuban Head of State.

The Cuban President is informing the population on the current situation in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama according to information reported by different main stream media.

I dont recall seeing this posted anywhere on DU so please excuse me if I missed it.

I understand this administration is anti-Castro and pro-Cuba to get that vote but we are in need of serious medical help for victims of Katrina. Why cant * eat some crow and allow 1100 excellent doctors in to this nation to help at this time?

1. They will be turned down.
Just a prophecy of mine. Bushco is still so paranoid they will think that the doctors are spies attempting in infiltrate "Amerca".

3. And when Cuba was hit recently by a devastating hurricane...
George Bush offered them an insulting 50,000 for relief efforts. Fidel turned it down.

4. It was the Cuban National Assembly that turned down Bush's offer
Fidel isn't the Cuban government, FYI.

The MSM constantly says "Castro this" and "Castro that", when it actually is the response of the Cuban government. (You do know that Cuba has elected municipal, provincial and national assemblies don't you?)

It wasn't Castro who offered the Cuban Drs. for an aid mission to Katrina's victims, it was the Cuban Health Ministry (at the request of its membership) who offered their assistance via the National Assembly. Mr Castro, as Cuba's chief spokesperson, simply relayed the offer.
