RE: Keith Olbermann last night, I think he needs support!
Those of you who watched, perhaps came away with the same strange feeling that something hit the fan. The president of MSNBC, who was responsible for the show quits and Keith says "I won't waste any more of the viewers time" Doesn't make any sense. I believe someone gave the president hell, there were "words" and he was forced to resign. As for Keith, perhaps he will survive. He showed us his courage, If he needs our help, now is the time. How can we find out what happened, any ideas?

1. Huh? What happened?
I was watching it last night and stopped because I got kinda bored watching it (there is only so much I can watch of the Katrina disaster). Was it towards the end of the show?

2. It was the very end of the show
I wasn't sure what it meant either. My guess was he told the guy he was going to announce his departure and the guy said there was too much news now, not to waste the viewers time...and that it was a remark to him.

But I don't know.

4. He said that - the "won't waste any more of the viewer's time" line -
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 06:22 AM by Clark2008
because he was talking about NBC News President Neil Shapiro stepping down and how the Shapiro wouldn't think that was "news." That Shapiro would think that discussing the issue of his resigning would "waste the viewer's time."

I don't think Keith's in any trouble. He still has higher ratings than anything else on MSNBC, including Tweety and Imus. I know what happened to Donohue, but, I think MSNBC actually listens to Keith's fan base. At least, it seems they do, given the many times we've all written.

And, it wasn't Shapiro he gave hell, it was Rick Kaplan, who is the news director.

10. I think that it was more of an inside joke more than anything else....
Keith is fine....He's got decetn ratings, and he's the only guy that resembles a journalist on the air right now....the rest are f**king GOP-enablers....

6. He simply did the right thing. That is very hard to do when the pressure
is on your careerwise. Most people are afraid after examples have been made of. He will be able to live with himself. And that matters.

8. Probably means that he has to resume whoring for GOP or be fired.
Toe the Corporate Line or else...... won't be seeing any more truthful accounts from him I would imagine....The MSM was off script for a few days but word is coming down from the top and soon it will be Michael Jackson this and Robert Blake that....

interpretation (Shapiro would think it was a waste of air time for KO to announce Shapiro's departure and acknowledge that Countdown had been Shapiro's concept). There wasn't a suggestion of anger or bitterness in KO's words, and if Olbermann were being forced out, as some have suggested, why not go out with a blazing condemnation? We've had ample proof that he knows how to make one.
