"Now is not the time to politicize this"
The latest talking point. Let's not make this political. Yeah. Sure. Okay.

What does that mean?

Pretty clear to me.

Let's not criticize the commander in chief.

Yanno .... fuck that. This IS political. This is the citizens against the republican party. The reaction to the conditions in New Orleans is pure republican. Pure bushco. Pure Grover Norquist. Pure Cheney.

Pure Bush.

To be sure, mistakes were made that impacted the people there. Mistakes - honest mistakes by all parties.

But the major resources are all fully and completely under REPUBLICAN control. And they're not doing their jobs. Well ... they are, actually. Its just that the job the want to do is not the one we the people need done.

"Now is not the time to politicize this"

Kiss my politicized ass.

2. I've noticed
that whatever the topic, it's NEVER time to politicize something.

In other words...just keep quiet. Permanently.

commit felonies.

5. As long as Bush* is doing photo ops
and grandstanding all over this, I don't want to hear it.

Desperate people, desperate comments. Let's see Mr. Shirtsleeves get in there and clear some wood out for a few hours in the LA sun and then I'll entertain the idea. What they mean is "its OURS to politicize, shut up"

I'll never shut up again. Not for the Government, not for the "good of the Democrats" not for anyone. THIS is what "shutting up" and "waiting for the right moment has gotten us. THIS HORROR.

8. Yeah .... exactly like that
These craven motherfuckers will stoop as low as needed to just plain win.

We need a whole army of reserchers to cull history for their own quotes where they did to us - relentlessly - what they tell us not to do now.

12. Politicizing the Disaster That Is Bush
How is pointing out incompetence politicizing?
This is just another excuse for the President. The excuse making for this President should end with the deaths of these people in New Orleans who waited and waited and waited for help from their government, but it didn't come. Because of incompetence, citizens, the elderly, the sick, have died. There was at least one stillborn birth at one of the refugee centers in NO.
What kind of low lifes would make excuses for the total lack of preparedness by this administration? This was a natural disaster that was forecast as possible.
How dare they excuse this by calling it 'politicizing'. Our tax money was spent so that this type of unpreparedness for disaster would not happen to any citizen in the USA.

9. Too late.
When I saw images of Bush touring NOLA, mixed with trucks of buses FINALLY coming in, days later than they should have, I saw evidence, pure and simple, of politics at work.

Even if the trucks and buses were delayed just 24 hours for Bushes grand appearance, how many died during those 24 hours?

How many?

It's all politics. It's politics in so many important ways, but nothing is more important than the political gamemanship that put this spoiled, fratboy, cokehead, miserable failure in office.

17. And of course, the "later" time for politics never comes
It reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Bart waits for Homer to come pick him up after soccer, and he waits in a terrible rainstorm. Homer forgets to go get Bart until he's been waiting for an hour or longer. When Homer finally picks up Bart, Bart is rightfully pissed. Homer says, "You know, we could argue all afternoon about who forgot to pick who up, but the truth is, I'm pretty mad, too. Let's just agree that mistakes were made, and let it go at that. Okay?"

Except, of course, that the Republicans never admit that mistakes were made -- unless it was by the Democrats. They'd never get away with it, except their gibbering sycophants in the media echo and amplify whatever their GOP masters say.

18. Inoculation meme #10982.6
The Geneva Conventions v torture: Talking about the torture endangers the mission & troops

Investigating 911: Doing an investigation will take away from going after terrorists

Who lied about WMD: Focusing on the WMD will demoralize the troops

Is the Iraq War a disaster?: Why do you hate America?<---applies whenever all other propaganda fails.

Right-wing judges and the role of advise and consent: This is nothing but partisan bickering

Failure to respond in NO: politicizing the tragedy

^^^^^^

They pull the ole inoculants and defusers out of their bag because at best, they shut people up, and at worst, they change the subject. New subject: are the Democrats being political?

21. Bush and Co. need to take a political hit!
Of course they need to take a political hit! They sent the Natl. Guard and Reserves to Iraq instead of keeping them home to help with natural disasters like they are supposed to be doing. They are spending hundreds of billions in Iraq which means money we can't spend here on natural disasters, etc. They are in the pockets of Exxon-Mobil et.als. who gave them two-million bucks last year, and here we are paying nearly four bucks a gallon for gas while the oil companies rake in record profits. In fact, they are giving
Exxon-Mobil and others SUBSIDIES which means they are making record profits at the expense of the rest of us AND getting money from Bush at the same time. And on and on and on. This administration's cumulative BAD policies are coming to a head with this disaster and its aftermath, and they damn well need to be held accountable for these awful policies which have exacerbated the damage. And the worst is yet to come. NOW WE NEED TO GET A STRONG ECONOMIC POPULIST MESSAGE GOING AND TAKE OUR COUNTRY THE HELL BACK FROM THIS HORRID, CORPORATE-OWNED GOP!

... think we should give the Repugs a month-long head start on the politicizing.

Yeah, sure, that makes a lot of sense. If you are a Republican.

25. Month long head start?
Yep, and then they will characterize it as "old news." Besides, given the historical record of the past 4 1/2 years, a month from now, the junta will have managed yet another outrageous fuck up. Of this, we can be sure.
