Florida: Katherine Harris way behind in new poll
source: http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/12522791.htm

In a survey of 1,187 registered Florida voters taken between Aug. 23-29 by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, 57 percent said they favored Democrat Nelson in the Senate race to 33 percent for Harris, who is the only declared Republican in that race. The sample included a margin of error of plus and/or minus 2.8 percentage points.

Harris, who was Florida's secretary of state during the raucous 2000 presidential recount, was viewed unfavorably by 30 percent compared to 22 percent who saw her in a favorable light. Forty percent saw Harris as too partisan and divisive.

1. Nelson better hope she stays in the race. He might lose to any other R.
Harris is an awful candidate, but no other Republican wants to take her on, as she gets over 50% in a hypothetical matchup of several potential candidates. Rep. Mark Foley is thinking of taking her on, but has of yet made no decision.

2. I'm sure Jeb and rest of the boys are still looking for a replacement
for Harris. She's such a liability. She ruined her political life when she pulled her shennanigans during 2000. Did she really think that the bush** family would show her any loyalty or return the favor? If she did then she's dumber than I thought.

I'm sure tho that she still thinks it's because she's being picked on.

7. Actually her "shenanigans" in '00
made her "political life" - she would not have been so easily elected to the House had she not pulled them. Now, she's doing what repukes do - over-reaching. This time, the sane people in FL, outside her Congressional District, will thwack her for it. I hope.

4. Can we see that video of "Chesty Harris" again?
I need a good chuckle this morning.

Anybody save it? I thought I had bookmarked it under "humor" but no luck finding it.

11. Haha. She is a real test case for the Rethugs. If they'd vote for her
anything is possible. Of course, she is counting on the fact that the Die-bold Bros. will fix it for her.

10. Yeah, Heard That On C-Span This AM.... However Many Dems
don't even want Bill Nelson! And I think I'm one of them. Katherine Harris is currently my representative, but I'm not at all enamored with Billy Boy! He changes with the shift of the wind. While Kerry & Edwards were down here campaigning he was generally on stage with them with Betty Castor. But when Castor was cast out by the Martinez gang, Nelson was only too glad to throw his arms around him and embrace him. I'm not sure, but I think perhaps Martinez isn't doing too well, but he'll be there for a while regardless.

Nelson, is very very LITE!! I wish the Dems would be able to put up a better candidate than Nelson, but as long as Harris is in the race, I guess Nelson will still be there.

The lesser of two evils to me.... ANYTHING to remove CRUELLA from my midst! What a WHACK job she is! I hear they're trying to find another candidate to replace her.

And further more neither she nor Martinez WON the election down here. I've said the many many times before, but there is NO WAY 40,000 votes get dumped into a column in one fell swoop right before they called Florida for El SmirkleRoy! Then it was up to Ohio where once again they did their "dirty work!" NO WAY! And Good Riddance, I don't know how they can save her this time, she was unpopular even here in Sarasota County last time out! She NEVER won!!!!

12. These kind of polls always
make me nervous. It looks like they sampled a bunch more Democrats than rethugs.

Among 430 Republicans queried in the poll, 39 percent said they backed Gallagher compared to 36 percent for Crist.

Half of the 379 Democrats surveyed said they leaned to "don't know" in their party's gubernatorial contest.

I could be wrong but it looks like they surveyed 758 Democrats and nly 430 rethugs.
