Who cares what the DLC says - even their own former chair
has rebranded (newdemocratnetwork) ala Bayh.

Back in 2002 or so a Duer with ties to the Hill said - when the DLC stops winning elections - folks will stop listening to them. And guess what happened. Their influence has been flagging - in DC and more broadly.

And per their anti-war movement sentiments.... and their fierce adherence to the need to be prowar... they make themselves even more irrelevant given the mood of the nation on this issues continues to shift away.

Just read that New Republic subscriptions are declining while subscriptions are increasing to TheNation.

Point being - on quick read this morning it appears that way too much energy is being spent on the DLC. Seems to me, the more some of their figureheads speak - the more they make themselves self-segregated and less likely to be listened to. So ya, some of their stuff is really insulting - but why waste energy on them - they do enough damage to themselves, imo.

Have to run off to work - and hope that things settle down a bit.

Best to you all!

2. I know I stopped my subscription to
tnr and starting resubscribing to The Nation(I wanted to support them).

Here's an interesting article I found in The Nation by Ari Berman("The Strategic Class"), that mentions peter beinhert of tnr among others..

"At the bottom of the pyramid are the liberal hawks in the punditocracy, figures like New Republic editor Peter Beinart, Time writer Joe Klein and New York Times columnist Tom Friedman. These pundits, along with purely partisan outfits like the Democratic Leadership Council's Progressive Policy Institute (PPI), help to both set the agenda and frame the debate. The journalistic hawks churn out the agitprop that the more respectable think tanks turn into "serious" scholarship, some of which eventually becomes policy, or at least talking points, when adopted by the politicians."

Since the dem hawks like the War On Iraq so much why aren't they urging their readers and constituents to go down to the recruiting station and enlist for the military?

Much More Blues..
