"The Thinking Woman's Sex Symbol"
All you ladies, scroll down to see the "hottest" man in the administration.

Be careful you don't throw up a little in your mouth.

5. What a sicko.
This picture is just incrediably stupid... errr...uhh... patriotic.

But what really takes the cake are the "headlines" and the little remarks from the peanut gallery below each headling:

9. The Neocons have created space for the worst people in our country....
to come out of their dim dungeons and flaunt their ugliness.

These people would have lined up to join the Third Reich.

14. Uh....I'm going to say it
and this has no bearing on my political station -- I'm a left-libertarian and I hate neocons. I think that the theory I'm going to put forward stems from me being a postmodernist, maybe.

I've always found both Rumsfeld and William Kristol to be kind of sexy. I'll tell you why: despite the fact that they're neocon trash, neocon trash, truly ARE intellectuals. They're intellectuals just like the eugenicists of the Nazi party were intellectuals. If you read John Ralston Saul's "Voltaire's Bastards," he puts forth an argument that anything can be rationalized -- that the Holocaust was not some work of a cloud of black "evil," but was a completely rational act. What the neocons are doing is a completely rational act -- in some ways more grounded in cold reason than a lot of the identity politics of the left.

The myths that they create are for the intellectually void, i.e. freepers -- the jingo, the nationalism, etc. -- but, to them, it's really much more practical than that. They're working in reason, scholarship and academia -- cause and effect. Observation and outcome. I think that they're modernists of the highest stature -- what is global hegemony but social engineering on the grandest scale? -- and pay lip service to "religion" only to help out "the noble lie." (There was actually an old NRO article, penned by Irving Kristol, that incredulously (fake incredulousness, I might add), defended against accusations that the neocons had no other program than global hegemony. Think accusations from Pat Buchanan's corner -- prodding their loyalty to Israel, questioning their loyalty to "traditional Christian-American values.")

All that said, when taking into account the criterion of being a "thinking person," I submit that there's no difference between Donald Rumsfeld and William Kristol, and Gore Vidal and Seymour Hersh. I just happen to agree with Vidal and Hersh.

I'm sure, then, the second question would be -- "how can you find "sexy" these people who have all this blood on their hands?" I simply find that question to be emotional and immaterial to the question, at hand.

Would I deign to sleep with Rumsfeld or Kristol? -- not on your fucking life, unless they rolled over, somehow, on the administration, and were standing outside a Phish concert with a bottle of absinthe in one hand, and a copy of "Harmonium," in the other.

But do I find them sexy? Yes.

16. I don't hate neocons
I merely recognize that they are extremely dangerous. They are human beings and I grant them the privileges of such, but the general viewpoint I take is highly impersonal, something like the threat posed by a comet hitting the planet or the sun going nova.

17. That was a "figure of speech"
I don't really hate anyone -- but like you -- I find them dangerous. I think that the psychological consensus is that "danger" -- in some situations -- heightens sexual attraction.

21. Of course there is
That doesn't mean that everyone's sexual arousal is heightened, because of danger/dangerous situations -- but psychologists have definitely recognized increased sexual response in situations of high anxiety or anger. Think S & M, public/restroom sex, cheating -- and there was the famous experiment about the rope bridge that is in every psych 101 textbook.

23. Sorry, existence is VERY different than concensus!
Here, I've looked up the def. for you since you are unwilling to back down and continue to make the argument that people are unified in their attraction to danger in your attempt to make an argument that it's cool for neocon women to be attracted to Rumsfeld. :puke:

1 a : general agreement : UNANIMITY <the consensus of their opinion, based on reports... from the border -- John Hersey> b : the judgment arrived at by most of those concerned <the consensus was to go ahead>
2 : group solidarity in sentiment and belief
usage The phrase consensus of opinion, which is not actually redundant (see sense 1a; the sense that takes the phrase is slightly older), has been so often claimed to be a redundancy that many writers avoid it. You are safe in using consensus alone when it is clear you mean consensus of opinion, and most writers in fact do so.

26. Um...I never made an argument that people are "unified"
in their attraction to danger. I was arguing that psychology recognized a link in some people between danger and heightened sexuality. And yes, that IS A CONSENSUS, amongst most researchers. AGAIN, that is not to say that all people find danger sexy.

And I doubt that neocon women would find neocons dangerous, yeah? My argument pertains to women who recognize neocons as dangerous. I suspect that most Republican women who find Rumsfeld sexy are basing their attraction on a completely different narrative -- one, which I find kind of "icky," most likely due to power worship, steerage and/or authoritarianism -- or actually thinking that he's wise, as opposed to "intelligent."

I'm not certain of exactly what your problem is.

24. foaming at the mouth genocidal maniacs screaming hate is unattractive
The style may be dark and sinister (in fact they sort of use Nazi-reminiscent fashion), but we're mostly talking about fat, balding retirement-age men and a dumpy women in very expensive clothes screaming bullcrap about "Kill all the Muslims!" and "Castrate all the gays!" and "Nuke Mecca!" and "Jesus said to stop playing with yourself!" and so on, with generally low intellectual standards and plenty of barefaced lies.

Plastic surgery -sculpted supermodels and steroid-enhanced beefy bohunks aren't really the issue, and frankly people's physical beauty meters usually top out after so much. There is a behavioral aspect to sexual attractiveness. Talent, intelligence, artistic expression, and the like are all part of it. Apart from Condi's piano-playing, these clods have none of it. Where's the talent? Looks mostly like biblethumping prowess. Where's the intelligence? Looks mostly like Bushler's verbal blunders and Rovian least-common-denominator talking points. There's even a bit of anti-science going on. Where's the artistic expression? Condi's piano playing is about it. Schwarzenegger's acting consists largely of physical appearance as opposed to compelling performances. And as for the rest, it's completely absent.

Where are these sexually attractive neocons again? I don't see a single one.

27. I mentioned two neocons
I never said the whole lot of them were sexy -- most of them are totally gross. Perle must smell like evil -- and Wolfowitz is revolting. And let me be specific -- when I'm speaking of neocons, I'm speaking of what's commonly known as the PNAC/AEI, jewish lobby, spies & cold war warrior neocons -- not the neocons "latch-ons."

It's no different than why some teenagers in the 50s (or 60s or whatever) found James Dean attractive. His image was largely derived from the characters he played, onscreen, and his characters were fast-driving teen delinquents. In every sitcom there is at least one episode where the teen-age daughter dates a "bad boy." The "bad boy" is an archtype, for crying out loud. What planet do you live on?

If you'll notice, I also said I'd have a hard time sleeping with either Rumsfeld OR Kristol, unless they were at a Phish concert with a bottle of absinthe and a Wallace Stevens poetry book. I simply find the two of them sexy -- it's beyond reason, I know.

30. Maybe it's just me...
For me, there is more to sexy than someone who would look hot in the sack.

I thik Vince Vaughn is extremly hot. He;s a hunk. Then, I leaned he's a rethuglian and a * supporter. While he may still be "good looking," all his sexiness just drained away for me.

Now, Bill Nighy (Love, Actually, Shaun of the Dead, The Girl in the Cafe) may not necessarily be considered a sex symbol (maybe, I don't know) but the more I learn about the way he thinks and beleives, the sexier he becomes to me.

I personally think Orlando Bloom should be my love slave. I always thought he made a hot little elf, but when I started seeing him pop up in One commercials, sporting the white bands and expressing other opinins that aligned with mine, the idea of making him my personal love slave becamse even sweeter.

There are some mighty sexy men in the world, but some of them, the minute they open their mouths or I see the *'04 shit on their car... that's it.

I also happen to find my own husband quite hot. But nothing is sexier to me than when he gets on one of his rants about how we need to be helping pople, caring for the poor, working to end any more illegal invasions, volunteering for the One campaign... etc... now that, ladies and gentleman, is S-E-X-Y!
