Just heard Bill Frist's announcement on stem cell research.
He sounds like a presidential candidate. He knows that the public wants stem cell research, and he is trying to get on the bandwagon.

who specialized in heart transplants?

13. Correct me if I'm wrong
but doesn't a heart transplant begin with removing a heart that is still beating in a donors body?

5. All we will have to do, of course, is produce the footage
of El Fristo making the video diagnosis of Terri Schiavo, however, and he'll be back where he belongs--in the fundie right column.

6. He also came out against drug companies spending so much on ads
A couple of weeks ago he talked about the need for Congress to ban prescription drug advertising since drug companies spend more on ads in U.S. than on research although research has always been their justification for the high prices. He is definitely trying to get a high profile speaking out on issues that most Americans agree with.

8. So essentially he has made himself poison to the liberals
because of Schiavo, and now poison to the wingnuts because of stem cell research. Smart man...going for the middle/moderate vote. Either a smart choice or suicide??

11. How can anybody buy this crap. He just all of a sudden changes!
No way, where is the press on all of this flip-flopping going on?

They were all over Kerry for it.

Bush flip-flops, Frist all of a sudden flip-flops.

Evidently even the right-wingers don't buy it, none of them appear too excited about it yet.

15. I wrote this on another thread...
He is doing a huge flip-flop. He didn't just become a doctor today. He's known all along that embryonic stem cell research being done on blastocycsts that have already been created at an IVF clinic and will be destroyed anyway makes perfect sense, but only now did he realize that this is a popular position with the majority of Americans. He'll be destroyed for this in an '08 primary, being called a flip-flopper who sold out his beliefs. Remember Terri Schiavo and how he diagnosed her from the floor of the Senate and then claimed he never did so? He's history. Don't believe a word he says.

(To your point, thought, the media was all over the "flip-flop." Begala called it a "flip-flop-flip," headlines read, "Frist-flops," etc. And the right wingers are FURIOUS about it! Brings a smile to my yellow, noseless face.) :)
